Montblanc Repair Service 144

Sharing this for reference.

Excellent service once again at Montblanc. In 2019 I sent in my 147 for repair.
 

This time I sent off my black 144 directly to the MB Repair center in Fort Worth, Texas asking them to replace the gold section ring that had corroded and to clean the nib and feed.

Timeline:

February 3, 2021= FedEx pen from Houston

February 4= received by MB

February 8= received letter with service details and cost

February 23= FedEx out from MB

February 24= I received pen

Cost was $69.00 for Service Flat Rate 1 plus Shipping $15.00 and no cost for the “Forepart”. 

They replaced the feed and the section looks new.

Looks like they cleaned the pen and polished the nib as well. Very pleased with the service.

 

Hope this information helps if you are thinking of sending in a pen for repair. It’s easy and relatively quick.

Thanks, did they just replace the gold ring or did they replace the entire front section of the pen, excluding the nib? This is the first time I've seen them charge just the $69 tier one service rate for a repair. Normally, replacing the front section would have kicked it into tier 2 pricing.

Looks like they did such a good job cleaning it up that it made the section look new. But while I don’t see scratches on the section, I do see one little blemish. Also I don’t remember the brass fitting being so shiny.

So I think it’s probably the original plastic, but it looks so shiny and scratch free, dang I am unsure. Either way I am happy. For sure the gold ring is new.
