*sorry it's a pen and pencil set* Parents passed recently and I found this pen while cleaning out their house. I remember playing with it as a kid but I know nothing about it. I'm going to keep it just wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it. Thank you

Looks like a Cross Century pen and pencil set.....from the 1970's perhaps. Back in the day, every sales rep had one of these sets in their pocket. More contracts were signed with these.......

1970's sounds about right from the little I know. Thank you!

This 14k set was my grandfather’s. They are definitely from the early 1970’s because this set was given to him and the pens are engraved with “Club Peru NYC 1971”.  My box looks a little older as well and it contained the key to the city of Miami Beach that was given to him on a visit, it has been decades since I’ve seen it. Very nice pens and I remember playing with these as well.large.D4453364-D7E8-47F4-B92E-FEFF1F721D3B.jpeg.4cb4369cbffa0d231fe982a24f7708e6.jpeg

I have seen these as well, in the early 80s. My father went to the US for a business trip and was given one just like these as a gift. It must have gotten lost. I never saw it again.

Vanforyou, to be clear there is a big difference between 14k gold and 14k gold filled. 14k gold would have to be hallmarked gold while 14k gold filled is the same as gold plated.

"Gold filled" or "rolled gold" is definitely not the same as gold plated. It is easy to find out what these terms mean. There is much to find out, and it can be one of life's pleasures.

Thank you for making the distinction and it made Curious.

Gold fill is a layer of solid gold mechanically adhered to a base metal. The layer of gold on gold-filled items is 5 to 10 times thicker than that produced by regular gold plating, and 15 to 25 times thicker than that produced by gold electroplate.

Learned something new.
