What is your most recent MB acquisition?

I have been searching for this pen stand for over 2 years. I did not want to pay eBay price.

Lo and Behold, I was browsing the mall before Christmas and saw that an AD in the area had a 30% sale window for older MB items. It was listed for $300 USD. I asked the saleswoman and she told me that the price of $300 includes the 30%. So I just left it at that even though it would still be an OK deal.

Fast forward to yesterday, I decided to go back to the same mall and the MB 149 pen stand was still there.

The same saleswoman approached me, I politely said I am just browsing. I noticed a mid age salesman there talking to the owner, I'd figure he seems more eager to strike a deal and he seems to be pretty buddy buddy with the owner.

My instinct were correct. I was able to get it for $140 USD plus taxes. Good deal for a NOS MB 149 pen stand that I've been looking for 2 years on/off.

Now my MB Desk Accessories is almost complete.

Nice instincts!

Want to ask, what brand are those smaller pen stands?  I like the look of them.

@gyang333, they are called penwell made by goodmadebetter.com

I have nothing but good comments for the penwell and the owner. Very good quality product, has good heft and well made. You can check YouTube reviews on the product if you type penwell. What's good about it is it uses micro suction pads underneath and oh boy do they stick on any surface. Not only that, you can unstick them if you want to and wash them and reuse them.

Very nice pen holder.

But not an MB?

MB inkwells and pen holders bring high prices in the Live Auctions here in Germany.

I was more interested in the ink wells.

@Bo Bo Olson, i got the 2 round black aluminium penwell stand from goodmadebetter.com last year. I just bought the Montblanc 149 acrylic pen stand yesterday from an AD near home.

Today, I found the last piece of the puzzle at my favorite Authorized Dealer in town. I still can't believe within the last 3 months, I found the Montblanc Inkwell, Ink Blotter, 149 Pen Stand and Letter Opener near me. 3 different Authorized Dealer in the area. It has been a fun and thrilling hunt especially for such old items from the 90's. I can't express how happy I am to find everything locally at a great price compared to eBay prices.

Here's the last piece of the puzzle! Paid $200 USD. I could of negotiated more but gotta support my favorite Dealer during these hard times!

Very pretty and very unusual.:notworthy1:

I've got a few letter openers, mostly marble handled.KUzqVNs.jpg

W.Germany 200 + BP+MP NOS set.

But it was the marble pen set that was the focus.

But there was another  white marble  letter opener with a matching letter holder that didn't get photographed in I was doing inkwells.

UeL7XUG.jpg

My very first pen item & insert letter opener. I may have had 5 or so more pens. Don't think I have many more. Pre-ink-well by me.

The MB is a 234 1/2 Delux KOB ('52-54 Only.) A Geha 790, Pelikan 140, 400nn, to the left holder. Right a 120 don't remember what the next to it was. Nor the one laying down.

The orange (Parker clone) MP is so old it had a 4 xxxx telephone number. The other pen is a Telefunken designer piece early '50's. rgosE2d.jpg

With all those letter openers, and my wife still rips open the letters with her finger.:headsmack:

Well, it wasn't an acquisition, but yesterday, we had a pen posse and @Frank C let me play with one of his MBs.  OH MY I am in love.  I hope he can post a picture.

I impulsively bought the JFK in burgundy yesterday, when I was attending the opening shindig of the new Montblanc store here in Copenhagen. I always thought the JFK was one of the most beautiful MB designs, but that it was too small for my hands. It is a bit small, but I fell for it anyway this time. The many, many glasses of Champagne may have helped with the decision....

This is not a recent acquisition, far from it actually, but I saw the pictures earlier from @agentdaffy007's hunt, so I thought it nice to post a picture of my office set. Collected with gifts and purchases in the late 90s. Notice how the gold color of the non-metal trimming (inkwell and blotter) has completely faded over the years.IMG_5982.thumb.jpg.3133a059c852fa868a8d302ce2a61bda.jpg

@Linger, very nice MB Desk Accessories.

I recently got MB to replace the tulip of the MB Desk Stand. Cost me $99 USD to get them to change the threaded tulip to a non-threaded tulip. Now my MB 149 goes in and out effortlessly.

I couldn't help but noticed that you are missing the last piece of the puzzle. The inkwell. I came upon a brand new never used MB inkwell in box with manual and everything. Let me know if it's something that might interest you. Was going to put it up for sale but I saw your post.

@agentdaffy007 that is very kind of you. I never pursued  it…you see, my MB is the 147, the traveller, which uses cartridges. I was going in/out airplanes weekly at that time, and this 147 does not leek, so there was never a need for the inkwell. By now, I know that it is better to store ink in the original bottle, in a drawer, and I have plenty of other paraphernalia on my desk for decoration purposes. So this inkwell, how nice it is, remains “the one that stayed away”.

This post may also belong to the most deliberate thread. Undecided about this jewels I hesitated more than 6 month until I pushed the button.

I do not regret anything, it's a beautiful fountain pen which is not uncomfortable to write with, despite its narrow section.
