@ak47 You are undoubtedly in good company.

Serendipitously, the new packaging came up yesterday during a conversation with the manager of my local boutique, who mentioned that Montblanc Creative Director Mr. Marco Tomasetta draws inspiration from Montblanc’s legendary head of advertising, Ms. Grete Gross.  The new Montblanc packaging’s graphic layout and sliding drawer construction both pay homage to a Gross package design from the 1920’s.  So those who yearn for the old packaging can at least take solace in the knowledge that the new packaging design is rooted in Montblanc history, rather than being an arbitrary storage solution.

It is a nice explanation. Montblanc has a long history and who knows how many "features" could pull out of the cylinder..ops box😉 !

Unfortunately I am out of Montblanc Burgundy Red ink, so will have to order a bottle pronto for the burgundy beauty!

I have the burgundy, though no flex nib, and I love using MB Irish Green in it for a fun contrast. I find the MB Burgundy to be more "pink" than I think matches

I have Irish Green too. Although I like it, I made a 50\50 mix of Diamine Delamere Green and Pelikan Dark Green put in a Graff von Faber Castell ink bottle and it's a great color. Darker than the Irish. Yet still has a nice green tint.

My most recent MB is a purchase from a couple months ago of an orange Generation with a F nib. Took a bit of work to get out all the dried black ink so I could use orange.

Maria Callas Special edition fountain pen. I hadn't realised that the packaging has changed so much, a little disappinting but the pen is beautiful!

Oh I just love this pen! I love its femininity.  It is the only Mont Blanc pen I've fallen for since the range of Princess Grace pens.  Now I must own it!  Regarding the crystal on the clip - is it a topaz?

Please could you also show a picture of either end of the pen (the top and bottom caps?)

That's an especially striking pen.

Thank you for posting it here.

I know how difficult it can be to remove dried ink.

A 65 year old Parker 51 F nib reached with extensive internal dried blue ink.

Considerable time and care was needed to finally clear out the thickly caked residue.

Enjoy writing with your beautiful pen!

I'm thinking of adding a Bordeaux LeGrand to my collection. It'll be my fourth 146 LeGrand and first 146 with a fine nib. This will likely be the seventh and last MB. I hope it's the right choice. I want something different than the typical black Montblanc. The Bordeaux offers something more unique and bridges the gap between the price of the standard Meisterstuck 146 pens and the quite expensive special/limited editions. Which have pricing several or many multiples more than the Bordeaux ones. That's more than I can justify to myself.

If I want another Montblanc after that I'll have to (unfortunately) let the 221 go. That pen writes with terrific bounce to it. I can't own all of the MB variants so I have to draw the line somewhere. I'll know in a couple of day if I'll pick it up or not.

Space for one more

Yes! It is a very elegant and distinguished pen.

Sometimes I like mixing the cap of my Silver Solitaire (which has your same Pinstripe pattern) with the black body of the 146: a beautiful combination.

I'd love to see it with a silver body and black cap.

I got this back from a nib exchange, from an F to a delicious BB.

Ink & notebook just to complete the experience. I find myself getting the ink & notebook whenever I like a pen.

Writes very well, altho I had to adjust my writing style when using a BB nib as I am more of an oblique nib user.

Received this Ultra Black LeGrand from a dealer in Japan a few days ago. New old stock with no sign of having ever been inked. I know not everyone likes them, but I have wanted one for several years and was happy to find this one at a price I could afford. 2023-12-21-MB146UltraBlackPhoto1of8.thumb.jpg.6c192a25856f66e0ad21b1079af1613c.jpg2023-12-21-MB146UltraBlackPhoto7of8.thumb.jpg.0dcf35e2b15999d1465ceea0f0837fe5.jpg
