My birthday pen earlier this month.  Unfortunately the ink flow is not up to par, so sent it to MB Repair Canada, and they have to send it to Germany to have the flex nib serviced, 8 to 10 weeks turnaround, maybe longer because of the strikes.  Anticipation!

Sigh....10 weeks and still waiting.  MB repair says it's still in Germany undergoing repair.  That's OK, as long as it comes back with the ink flow issue resolved properly.  I'd rather they take their time and do it properly.  Will be overjoyed when it arrives.

Well, after 7 months of waiting in anticipation, I finally got my Burgundy 146 Calligraphy flex pen back yesterday from Montblanc repair in Hamburg!!!!!!!!

In August the pen came back but the ink flow issue persisted, so it went back promptly to Hamburg.  This time they swapped the flex nib, and now it writes beautifully, couldn't be happier.

My trusty 149 Calligraphy flex pen that I got in February of 2020 that saw me through the whole pandemic madness and that I wrote with every single day since I got it, now has a colourful companion I will have inked all the time.

Both flex nibs perform like vintage flex with the practicality and reliability of a modern pen, love them both.

Unfortunately I am out of Montblanc Burgundy Red ink, so will have to order a bottle pronto for the burgundy beauty! 😜

Wow, that burgundy is truly a beautiful pen!

Thanks, I've always had a soft spot for red and burgundy pens.

Thanks Axio.  I'm really looking forward to running MB Burgundy Red in the pen, it's like a perfect match for the pen.  Currently running MB Lavender Purple, and that is nice too.

Thanks @fpupulin, I don't think I will ever part with these two pens.  I love they both have their own unique character, really enjoy writing with them.  The 149C will always be the King!  Like you, during the dark days of covid in 2020, it was a companion that saw me through those times.

@max dogHow's the fast writing experience with your 149c? Is its ink flow able to keep up with fast writing?

Would you mind showing some samples of lightning scribbles?

Hi Axio

One of the best things about the 149C is how well the feed keeps up with the flex.  Here is a writing sample of a full page of quick flexing lines I did.  I did it continuously from top to bottom of the page without stopping to show how the feed keeps up.  I could have pressed the nib harder for more line variation, but this is how much I am comfortable pressing the nib, as I want it to last me a lifetime.   At this amount of pressure that is done with ease, it does not feel like I am straining the nib at all, in fact I think it is good for it to keep the nib in top form.

The ink is Pelikan Brilliant Black and paper is Rhodia note pad 80 GSM.

wow max dog. The result is really convincing.

Your writing sample makes this pen even more attractive.

Many thanks for taking the effort to show us the performance of this nib under stress!

Maria Callas Special edition fountain pen. I hadn't realised that the packaging has changed so much, a little disappinting but the pen is beautiful!

The packaging is being poor..but the colour is fantastic!

Enjoy it!

So true about the “downgrade” in packaging, but your pen is stunning!

The colour is indeed lovely, especially that of the clip gemstone, but I also really like the new packaging: appealing graphics, quality hand for the eco friendly materials, and papers that fit into the compact box.  I’ve enjoyed this new package design on the Solitaire Glacier, and non-limited Solitaires of the Around the World in 80 Days II (AtW80 Days II) series.  (Unfortunately, the AtW80 Days II Solitaire 811 is offered in the conventional large format packaging with wood presentation case.)

I only wish that a customer placing an advance order were allowed to request this new packaging for limited editions as well, such as the Great Characters Muhammed Ali 1942, Masters of Art van Gogh 4810 & 888, and Writers Edition Robert Louis Stevenson 1883.  (Over the years I have accumulated enough furniture-grade and piano-lacquer finished wood presentation cases to cobble together a raft when the sea levels rise and ocean water flows through my home.)

Please forgive these ramblings of perhaps a minority opinion, but my point was to illustrate how much I prefer the new packaging over Montblanc’s previous packaging.

Oh, i understand.  Boxes take a lot of space at home of collectors. And i am.

But i like pens and their boxs. 😉

@ak47 You are undoubtedly in good company.

Serendipitously, the new packaging came up yesterday during a conversation with the manager of my local boutique, who mentioned that Montblanc Creative Director Mr. Marco Tomasetta draws inspiration from Montblanc’s legendary head of advertising, Ms. Grete Gross.  The new Montblanc packaging’s graphic layout and sliding drawer construction both pay homage to a Gross package design from the 1920’s.  So those who yearn for the old packaging can at least take solace in the knowledge that the new packaging design is rooted in Montblanc history, rather than being an arbitrary storage solution.
