Congratulations Tom. Beautiful pen.

What is your opinion of the writing experience?

It's an interesting pen. I don't use it for any special kind of calligraphy, just regular writing.

For that, it is nice to have the ability to vary the line width and have a little fun.

Writing at a normal angle for me it is a very broad (3B?), very wet and very smooth nib, which I can easily vary to an M.

Now, writing with it upside down it is quite disappointing: extremely dry and very scratchy (it is not feedback, which I like, but plain scratchy). To be honest, most of my modern Pelikans write much better upside down than this one.

Hello,

[ I don’t know if I’m posting to the right thread, since we’re 8 weeks into 2023 already.]

This nice black pen came to me as a bit of surprise, I fell in love with it at first sight and now feel so happy for having spotted it and got it.

It’s a 144 EF flex, never inked.

In spite of its classical beauty and elegance, I know it’s a rather plain, humble and undecorated pen, compared to some pieces of modern art, often shown here. Yet, it is quite a rare experience, finding such a 70+ year old pen with literally no sign or trace of use. Hope you’ll also find it likeable and worth showing:

I got this back from a nib exchange, from an F to a delicious BB.

Ink & notebook just to complete the experience. I find myself getting the ink & notebook whenever I like a pen.

Do you enjoy the feel of the pen in hand, I have found that the metal sections seem to be more slippery than the resin counterparts?!

beautiful pen nonetheless I was looking to get one?

I find that for longer writing sessions, the basic 146 'Le Grand" would be best, I was using my Ferrari, sometimes alternating  that with the Shakespear and found the metal section and step was not ideal for longer writing sessions. (2-3 hours of writing)  I think my last purchase of pens with metal sections would be the Jimi Hendrix, I still haven't used it after it came back from a nib exchange.

I got a little MB25 and love its soft nib. Gosh those German pens from the 1950's are great!

And continuing that vibe delighted with my 'new' Masterpiece 644 - originating from the early fifties and still turning in a wonderful performance...

Medium sized pen, celluloid body with ebonite cap top, section and blind cap, telescopic piston filler, medium semi-flex 14C nib.

Nice pen, but little bit short for me to use unposed

I know it's not a pen per se, but I recently purchased a box of Montblanc nib cleaners.  $15 for a box of 8 (up since I purchased) and they're perfect for when I don't have access to tissues or other cloths (class, not at home, etc.). They look nice and fit in my wallet too. I linked to Amazon below if anyone is interested!

My birthday pen earlier this month.  Unfortunately the ink flow is not up to par, so sent it to MB Repair Canada, and they have to send it to Germany to have the flex nib serviced, 8 to 10 weeks turnaround, maybe longer because of the strikes.  Anticipation!

Thank you AK47.  When I get my pen back in a couple of months, I can re-experience that new pen joy all over again!  HAHAHA.

Thank you @fpupulin.  I never thought I would own such a special pen, all the stars aligned, and I was able to get it for my birthday with the help of my wife and siblings who all chipped in.  The 146 Calligraphy flex nib is nice and smooth, and a superb EF nib for normal writing, with wonderful flex on tap.  I did notice after a few pages, the ink flow started to lighten up when I flexed it, and knowing how my 149C performs so flawlessly, I figured I should send it in to Montblanc to get it as perfect as my 149 Calligraphy flex pen that I absolutely adore.
