Congratulations! I recall you snapping that one up! NOS! I finally found a used one at a reasonable price in December 2019. They are wonderful pens. Enjoy!

Heeyyy how extremely cool! You must have reacted immediately to be able to score this unicorn! Congrats Arcadian.

Thanks! Yes, I think I reacted within an hour of receiving the e-mail from them. More money than I ever thought I would spend on a pen, but I guess that's the nature and bend of this hobby :-)

Thanks, and the same to you!  I agree, they are really great. The size and shape are just perfect for my hand, which is fortunate given the cost ;)

"My" latest acquisition:

IMG_6085.thumb.JPG.ad0caa10e451efd13270fdbd092ed91f.JPG

Boheme Blanche with Broad nib.

It was mine for about 30 sec... until the boss lady confiscated it for her collection 😳.

I should've know better, since she collects white pens. 🙂

What the barrel and the cap are made of?  They look perlaceous, and the longitudinal lines are not strictly parallel... Truly beautiful!

Tank you, @Toll

I'm also a fan of Bohemes. Their small size is perfect to carry around, they have a nice size once the the cap is posted and the somewhat soft nibs are great.

Now, to be fair with my wife, she didn't just plain confiscated the Blanche 😄, she traded me her Ligne for it! So, it was  win-win :D. Here  is a horrible photo of the two:

Thank you, @fpupulin!

Unfortunately, I don't have 1% of your skills as a photographer, so I didn't do the pen justice. 😩

The pen is lacquer over metal and it is indeed somewhat pearlaceous or off-white. The sets of lines form alternating trapezoids, converging to opposite directions, and the result is really nice. Montblanc really knows how to make a beautiful pen!

Here is a cropped version of the photo, which I hope gives a better idea of how the lines are constructed.

Wow. I placed/paid the order yesterday with an online retailer in the UK. He shipped it immediately via DHL and even considering the expected increased customs scrutinies for non-EU imports after 1 July, it already arrived today! My new addition - the 2004 WE Franz Kafka.

My motivation for shelling out a large sum for this pen is multifold:

1. The series: Fountain pens are made for writing, so a limited edition theme around writers is a very appropriate one.

2. The writer: I adore Kafka's juxtaposition of clean, clear writing with his themes of guilt, alienation, detachment, fear, and sometimes even sheer horror (try the last pages of "In der Strafkolonie").

3. The size: I like big(ger) pens. I also have/like smaller pens, but stil, I like big pens.

4. The shape: All of my pens are either flattops or cigars. Montblanc brought us recently Marc Newson's M. And although the design is really stunning, and modern, and a much needed variation, I could not get used to the section...it kept rotating in my hand. So I sold it. This Kafka has the metamorphosis from a round cap to a square end of the barrel. It is different and I like it.

5. The color: Black & Red. Honestly, even the better pictures you can find online (as mine are truly crappy) do not justice to the look and feel of this version's resin. It glows. It is translucent. It resembles blood or wine. It is gorgeous. Yes, it still is plastic. But it is gorgeous.

6. The nib: The cockroach is cool. And it is a Fine. It took quite some patience and searching for me to find a NOS with a Fine nib. But I could finally locate one and pulled the trigger immediately.

After Christie and Dickens this is my third WE. Dunno if it will be my last. It might be, or at least is for the time being.

Happy!

Congratulations @linger on your purchase. Kafka was my first MB pen and remains one of my very favourites, I love the way that the periphery of the pen catches the light, it’s impossible to photograph to do it justice. A unique pen for several reasons. Enjoy!

Congratulations @Arcadianhow fantastic to see Hemingway, Kafka and Agatha on this thread. If we see Verne, Dumas and Twain purchased this year we’ll have a full flush of my favourite MB writers pens…

personally I was tickled pink when I acquired my Hemingway, I was lucky to meet someone who needed to exit his fountain pen collection to buy a new property and was therefore happy to deal. Like you I never thought I’d ever own this pen but I am so pleased that I am lucky enough to enjoy it. I hope it gives you much pleasure.

Thanks! I, too, am tickled all manner of rosy hues :-)   It's a special thing, finally acquiring a pen one has dreamed of for so long. I just started a second master's degree, so it gets plenty of use for note taking!

That's an outstanding beautiful pen. Congratulations!

For more than 6 months I searched, asked dealers, rummaged through the second-hand market and wandered through dark alleys at night to get it. Only to find it on sale at a regular dealer: the 2006 Montblanc Virginia Woolf.

My absolute grail, long time only watched from distance, now mine! Originally with a fine nib (that was more like a wet broad) self ground into a medium-fine with a gentle architect geometry.

The ink is a mixture that I made for this pen: Fritz Schimpf Gelassenheit plus 12% Aurora Purple.

And now, please excuse me, I have to write a short story, at least .... ;)

One life!

I totally understand. If I were you I'd rather play with Ernest than prepare pictures for some random dude on the internet too, haha!

These old Writers Editions are simply superb! It is fantastic to see such beautiful pens, which remained uninked for almost thirty years, taking life in the hands of passionate writers and perfectly working since their first day of duty...

Congratulations to you both for your beautiful pens!

HaHa! Yes, I can't blame her... after all, white pens are one of the foci of her collection.

Your  Virginia Wolf is gorgeous! Always good to find the pen paying homage to a favorite author.

Congrats!
