New Narwhal Nautilus (the Corydoras Bronze version). They seem not to actually be available with the promised stub nibs, so I got a B and took it down to a CI (around M) and it's now very nice indeed. I'm loving the little ink windows.

That’s an interesting new pen! How do you like it? Where did you get it?

There’s no review of it on FPN network that I can see - it looks like a brand new release.

I’ve never tried a Narwhal pen and am curious since their nibs are in-house. The Nautilus is very nice looking.  But I can’t find one. They all seem out of stock.

Taking the JIF-Waterman Standard (pen and pencil set) out for a Sunday drive today - it's been a little while

This is also my first time refilling the glass cartridge, so I'm hoping it doesn't start to leak. It seems to sit in there so precariously...

It's still very new - I think I just got lucky the day I decided to buy one as everyone seems to be waiting on restocks now. I dithered about one of the limited edition versions, but the one I could find at the the time was the Cult Pens one, which didn't call to me.

The ink windows are really fun and whilst it's quite a big pen, the balance is very pleasant and the section a good shape for me. I have to say that for what it cost, I'm pretty happy. I'd probably slightly prefer it without the clip, but that might be something I'll modify later.

I've been pretty pleased with the ones I have - apart from one of their original ones, which whilst a fun colour, and well put has no ink window, which always irritates me a little.

The Schuylkill fixed that, and is a nice pen, especially last year's LE ebonite version.

I believe they do make their nibs in house (I have seen nothing to the contrary) but actually this isn't all good, as the range is still very limited. They've now added a B option to the original F or M, but the promised stub doesn't seem to have appeared yet, and since I tend to prefer either EF or stub nibs. I've ended up modifying all the standard nibs I have from them apart from one F, which wrote so nicely I didn't feel the urge to slim it down (yet!).

I think they were a bit overwhelmed by the response to these and they're supposedly going to be back in stock in late November. I may look again for a red one then...

Today it's been:

1) Vibrant Pink Lamy al-Star, 1.1 stub nib -- MB Permanent Blue Black.

2) White and Red Lamy Safari, B nib -- Lamy Black (cartridge which came with the pen).

3) Pink TWSBI 580-AL, B nib -- KWZI Chicago Green LE (the show ink from the 2021 Chicago Pen Show).

Kaweco Classic Sport F in burgundy with Summer Purple ink.

I used that combination for some time, when my Sport was new and a very dry writer.  I should try it again now that the pen has grown wet.

In the meantime, I am using:

  • Lamy Safari M, dark yellow (1990s), with Diamine Grape
  • Levenger Galaxy Aurora M, with Robert Oster Purple Rock
  • Sailor Pro Gear Slim Purple Cosmos B, with Sailor Shigure
  • Sailor 1911S Wicked Witch of the West M, with Sailor Kobe Suma Purple
  • Kuretake #8 brush pen, as soon as I refill it with TAG Kyoto Nurebairo

This good-looking, woodgrain ebonite, and chunky Cavalier used to be a pen-pencil combo. The pencil end got damaged and so I replace it with a home-made end inspired by Pelikan 100 styling, which, this pen kinda reminds me of anyway. And I also upgrade its nib with a Sheaffer 14K.

** In case some of you are wondering, the end was made on my lathe from a black ebonite stick.

Today it's mostly been the Sheaffer No Nonsense, IM nib, which I picked up in an antiques mall in Elkhart Indiana the end of September while driving out to the Chicago Pen Show.  Was able to get a converter for the pen at the show, and inked it up with MB Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Encre du Desert, one of the two MB inks I snagged at an estate sale recently for a third of the  normal (i.e., as when still readily available) price.
