Today’s pen

Nice Pen. Two questions:

1.) How do you like the zoom nib, and what do you use it for?

2.) Is that a Rhodia No. 13 graph pad? (my favorite EDC notepad)

Today I am using my Pilot Metropolitan with Noodler's Purple Martin.

It's nice to come back to a simple pen once in a while that proves you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get excellent results and enjoy this wonderful hobby.

Current lineup:

Pilot Custom 743

Montblanc 146 LeGrande

Lamy 2000

Platinum 3776 Jade

I had a few pens already inked, but I needed a different ink, so I inked up a pen I had close by without too much thought about rotation...

The pen I picked up is a Kaigelu 316 (first version with the brass finial) in a nice tiger eye resin.

The blue / yellow is a Continenti Asia.

I love how quirky the older models are. Marlen made most of Krones pens.

Desk pen with  tear drop pen holder.  Ink:  Dark blue-black ink mixture.

Nib is fairly smooth.  Will use as a dip pen (will not be replacing the bladder).

Three Sheaffer Balance Vac fill Oversize one in Green Celluloid inked in MB Irish Green , one in Brown inked in Yama Guri and one in Grey in Fuyu Sugun. Plus a modern Conklin Nozac Demo inked in Kon Peki for personal correspondance.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

It's "cheapie" pens today for me:

Parker Vector -- Bright Blue, F nib -- with Pelikan 4001 Pink.

Parker Vector -- Avocado? Green, F nib -- with Monteverde Rose Noir.

Noodler's Charlie -- brown/teal cap, flex nib -- with Noodler's KTC, dosed with a drop of Vanness White Lightning to improve flow (which it has done to some extent, but I'm still having to dip the nib in distilled water at least once a day due to nib creep clogging the slit); the good part is that White Lightning does not seem to have affected the color much, the way diluting with water does.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Narwhal Schuylkill, Porpita Navy with an F nib, inked with Diamine Electric Blue – both new to me. The Narwhal is a really good pen for the money!

Sailor Pro Gear Slim in the Purple Cosmos material with an F nib, inked with Graf von Faber Castell Burned Orange.

Lined paper makes a prison of the page.

Jinhao 886 - F/M nib.  Ink:  Blue/Black.  Preparing for a hospital procedure tomorrow

morning, and will not be taking one of my nicer pens with me.  This 886 is a nice

writer, and if it gets lost I will only be out of $1.99.
