This weeks workhorse is the Santini Libra Safira f-flexi with deAtramentis Atlantic Blue.

A great pen, a great colour match.

One life!

This is a pen I purchased about 5 years ago from a FPN member.   Galant Alkor, the nib is a flexible medium and a wet writer.

First plane trip since the pandemic. I took with me:

Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue, B

Pelikan 120 Black/Green, stub

Kaweco Sport V16 Black, B

Kanwrite Desire Orange Swirl, flex, eyedroppered

and a gel pen that we will ignore for the purposes of this post

I wrote 2 letters on the plane. I started with the Kanwrite, which started burping after about a page and a half, so I switched to the M120, which behaved very nicely.

Today, I am trying to use my Pelikan Pharo P72 (a gift from the hotel gift shop at the Sheraton on Pelikanplatz in Hannover, from a friend who was by chance there and remembered my passion for fountain pens), inked with a royal blue cartridge.

However, the highly polished metal body, combined with the step down to a small section (also highly-polished metal) for some reason prevents me from getting a decent grip on the pen, and it constantly rotates out of control. Worse, the harder I try to grip the pen (which is generally bad posture anyway) the more it seems to slip. I may have to break down and add something to the body just above the threads to prevent it form rotating in my hand, so I can use the pen reliably. It is a shame, as it is a unique design (especially for Pelikan), with very robust, all-metal construction. I also enjoy the classic, two-chick logo.

Today I am using a Pelikan M405 with an extra fin nib.  The ink is Pelikan Turquoise.

Today’s pen is a German piston filler.  Soennecken 506.  Nice stubby semi wet writer.

:D you took some risk with an eyedropper on a plane!

The 120 is a great choice, I use either that or M200s in such cases... waiting for my next plane trip too...

very nice, those old broad nibs have a wonderful stubby character, on several German pens

Aged stubs are the best.

It's true, I live dangerously. The Kaweco V16 Sport leaked, too, although thank goodness I didn't find out until I was home and near a sink :-). That little pen, which I love, has always behaved more like an eyedropper than a piston filler.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, though.
