why, if i may ask?

I'm guessing that it's because the Platinum Blue Black might be an iron gall ink; and Emerald of Chivor is a shimmer ink -- the shimmer particles can clog up a nib and feed if you're not careful.

Today's pens of choice are the Pastel Blue Sheaffer Snorkel Statesman, EF nib, with diluted/reconstitututed J Herbin Bleu des Profundeurs; and the French Blue Lamy Safari, F nib, with Lamy Crystal Benetoite.  And if I get energetic, I'll finally get around to finishing up the test of Birmingham Pens Herbert Simon Cranberry Nobel, which is in one of the Parker Vector Geometrics, F nib....

Geha 705, flexible OM nib, with Pelikan 4001 Violet ink (this pen prefers "dry" ink).

This week it is my 2007 Parker Sonnet Iridescent Blue 1 mm stub (self ground) with a self made blue ink, based on Waterman Serenity Blue with minor amounts of red and black inks added.

@readytotalk: This is a beautiful writing sample!

One life!

Iron gall inks are supposedly acidic, and can damage pens, there are some horror stories out there - but then many love them, and have no issues at all....and I’ve read that today’s iron gall inks aren’t as dangerous, and that you should just clean your pens more frequently.  If they are so bad, I don’t understand why Platinum includes a blue black ink iron gall cartridge with every pen.

Shimmer inks, because of the little glitter particles, can clog up the feed - but so far, I’ve had no problems with them doing that.  I really don’t care about shimmer, bought them sort of on a whim, and because I had just gotten a clear pen that I was planning on eyedropper-ing, and thought it would be pretty to be able to see the shimmer thru the clear barrel.

I took a walk down Main St in my town on Saturday, and checked every antique store looking for vintage pens, with no luck....getting up really early and going to go to a local flea market on Thursday.  On weekends they have a lot of newer items but on Thursday’s it’s antiques/vintage.  I would love to be able to find pens like this without going online!

Yesterday I decided that there are Too Many Pens inked, so I separated them into categories then picked one from each bunch and put the rest away. No getting any of those out until I've written these dry.

Oh wow.  Lovely handwriting you've got there!

Reminds me that I haven't used that ink for a while....

I'm loving your Soennecken!
