What Pen Are You Using Today in 2021/22?

Oof - I'm on a "too many pens inked, empty some out" kick at the moment!

Yesterday I emptied a Sheaffer Prelude that had a shimmer ink in it (Diamine Moondust, lovely match for the gunmetal pen) and an Italix Freshman's Notator; still inked I have a Jinhao X450 (I'm going through my Jinhaos at the moment deciding if I really need to keep all of them; the 450 is a no but I'm going to use the cartridge up first), an Italix Deacon's Doodle, a hyper-wet Waterman Carene I'm trying to find a good ink for (so far Serenity Blue in a cartridge is doing OK) and a Parker IM which went into my emergency "go bag" pencil case a while back and hasn't come out again since (stupid lockdown)!

And I've just received some Sailor Ink Studio for my new Pelikan so I'm dying to try that out...  must find more things to write :)

I need to do the same but I'm afraid it's going to take some work as they've likely dried out due to lack of use.

Both parts of the pair of Conid AntwerPPens that arrived yesterday - Regular on the left and Kingsize on the right.  Still only writing with dips as I try to decide which ink to use in each.

Today it's been the red Cross Solo, F nib, with Birmingham Pens Fort Duquesne Battle French Tricolor.

L-R, Namiki Falcon, SM nib, Pilot Blue-Black cartridge.  Older Pilot Elite, 18k Soft nib, width not marked, but it's extra fine, Black Cartridge.  Newer Pilot Elite, 14k M nib, Pilot Blue cartridge.

I have a number of Pilot cartridges that I've just decided to use up.  I already have a bunch of empty ones cleaned out and lying around waiting to be reused, so these others will just go in the recycling.

Today I was writing with my yellow princess: Narwhal Yellow Tang inked up with Iroshizuku Yama-guri. It is a lovely pen.

I will often change pens each page in my journal, if I have a lot of pens inked. Tonight it got a little out of hand! I used a different pen for each page:

  1. Parker 21 - Parker "51" India Black
  2. Parker Vacumatic - Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue
  3. MB No. 12 - Aurora Blue
  4. MB 320 - Iroshizuku Take-sumi
  5. MB 342 - Montblanc James Purdey & Sons Single Malt
  6. MB 145 (BB) - Iroshizuku Momiji
  7. Sailor 1911L Loch Ness - Sailor Studio 442 (Blue-black)
  8. MB 146 - Platinum Bliue-Black
  9. Sheaffer Prelude - Sailor 50 States Delaware

Not even every pen I have inked right now. 😒

Cleaned this up yesterday and got it working after months of non use. Using it today.

Cheers,

Was going to use a Preppy 03 with Noodler's Black, only for it to run out. That reminded me I needed to give it a good cleaning. Have it in an ammonia solution right now. Fell back on a Preppy 02 with Noodler's Black. Had intended to use a Metropolitan, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Still using this beautiful pair, my Conklin Conklinetta No. 22/98 in medium with Waterman Serenity blue, and the Conklin Mark Twain crescent in peanut butter (no longer available) with a fine nib and Conway Stewart Bodmin Black ink.

Lovely pen. William Faulkner on a James Dean box?

What color is that turquoise ink in the notebook? I like its saturation and lack of shading.

Thanks for liking the pen!!! The pen is the Faulkner as you surmised but it's not a box but a journal. The ink is the MB Unicef Blue ink which I also like. Have a great day!!!

Alas, my EDC isn't conducive to fountain pens. That will be a Zebra F-701 with a Space Pen refill, and a Uni-Ball Signo 207 in blue that's on my desk. But it's either the F-701 or a Jotter with a Space Pen refill every day, so I guess that doesn't count.

So why no FPs in your EDC, if you have a desk?  I work in nursing, as a CNA, which covers the most physical and dirty parts of nursing, and I use fountain pens for all writing except triplicate forms.  And if I had a bunch of Esterbrooks and at least one Manifold Fine nib, I'd have used a fountain pen for those, too.

For example, today I have two FPR Himalayas with 1mm stubs, in brown and green ripple ebonite, filled with Noodler's Brown and Bad Black Moccasin (the latter diluted 1:1 with water), and a Jinhao 51A filled with MB Mystery Black.  As far as I'm concerned, it's a matter of finding pens that are sufficiently sturdy and cheap.

My EDC darling...my calligraphy tool...my personal pet...my PENBBS-355 (Snowflake, Flex).
I have other pens, but this one is my constant companion.
The others just do not compare to it, even the vintage.1754462386_Wrongpen.thumb.jpg.552e8ed144ecb20c3a61e69bf999b19d.jpg
