I believe the style is correct; if the color is silver, I assume it is off. Either way, it has been bent.

The clip is gold. I tagged it with my Pontiac Badge Parker clip so I know it still needs work.
Everything is a work in progress

No you didn’t. That pen would be the wrong year.

Straighten the clip.

I updated the clip to a nice enameled clip. The clip I replaced has the words “Pontiac” and a 10 underneath the word. It may have been made to commemorate the city or a dealership. It is not the same Native American Chief cast gold clips, which are much nicer. I have to set up a better camera to photograph the clip as my phone cannot focus on the words and the cap.

Sorry for the confusion.  I called it the Pontiac Clip after the words on the emblem.

That’s a cool Vac !
Just to mention a disturbing note for some to the tool discussion I have done all my 51 and Vacs and Duofolds ect with a split brass nut and pliers, homemade. It’s not to recommend that to anyone but didn’t cost anything and has worked every time. Every time.  I happened to have a nut that threaded pretty nicely although caution with that. The proper amount of heating is key. I think Vacs are pretty easy as Parker definitely built them to last and be repaired.

Regards, Glen

Anyone know if Peter from Pensacs.com is taking orders right now? I sent in an order late last week and haven't heard back. I figure he might still be catching up with orders from the holidays. Has anyone else been in touch with him recently?

There was a post on a thread recently saying that he had been in the hospital, but was out.  There may indeed be a backlog.  Peter does respond.

Why not just repair the clip that came with it? It’s a pretty easy fix and it looks pretty clean.

Soooo not much of a real bench job - just needed a clean and a nib repair.... I've fiddled with a nib or two before so I figured I'd take a chance on a Lamy 2000 that had a bad nib for a steep discount (1/2 price). I promptly went to the local library to 3D print a nib repair block - free!! - just using a wooden skewer as a burnisher

It took some trial and error but I now have it writing again where just the weight of the pen will leave a nice line -I can see that it is still the slightest of slight out of alignment but it seems to not be an issue?

I must not have cleaned everything as well as I thought though - my Pilot blue black ink has gone weird - had to flush the pen and tried another ink - all fine now.

I was getting close to the end of the Pilot ink - guess it's time to toss it rather than risk gumming up another pen - never had that happen before but I read somewhere that inks can interact and do bad things

My first Lamy 2000 - shockingly easy to completely disassemble

photos from the sale listing - sorry - no after photos of the corrected nib - a Medium; still surprised at how differently a nib can present from one type of paper to the next - one of my work pads this is perfect, the other and the medium is more like a broad with the saturation and the feathering!

I recognize those pictures from the listing! It's that pen from the Reddit thread that the cat supposedly dropped isn't it? What a hilarious listing.

Some photos of the "fixed" nib. I think I need to fashion a metal burnishing tool...just a slight buckle still...but it at least writes and fairly smoothly!

can't seem to get really clear pics on my phone :(

I think that this could be taken care of with the tool known as a thumb nail.  It just needs a few nudges to get it in place.

Take a look at your thumbs.  Use the one with the  permanent notch in the thumb nail.

Thanks

Thanks

It was just a free file on thingiverse

I might try re-printing at a finer detail? or give it a light sanding to smooth some of the lines?

I got lucky - my print was in blue - the library usually has the least expensive filament, which means like neon yellow or pink!!! (not that there's anything wrong with that!)
