Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Robert Oster Bronze

This is review #70 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Color in the zoom is darker than what I see on the page, but is otherwise fairly close.  Quick and easy cleaning.  And mixing with water revealed considerable green component, as suspected.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Thanks for showing this one... and I totally agree that it is a superb ink. I also totally love this colour type. I especially like the wonderful complexity of this ink's mix of dyes. There are some lovely old-rose undertones in the ink that surface with watercolour-style drawing. In my opinion: one of the great ones from Robert Oster.

You're welcome!  And I agree - this is a total win.  I will be getting a bottle when winter is over. :)

Thank you for the review.  Another one to skip. Far too green.  Krishna Bronze Leaf is more in line, too my eyes anyway.

You're very welcome.  FYI, if you put this next to an actual green ink, it'll look brown - which is why I put brown swatches for comparison in the video - all my greens (even Salamander, for example) were way too green to compare to this ink.  (Also, it is possible the picture or your screen is heightening the green.)

Anywho, just FYI, in case it's on the edge for you, you might want a sample, just to see...

Krishna Bronze Leaf

Just looked that up - and yes, definitely un-green and very brown. :)  And RO Bronze would surely look green-ish next to it.

Oh no, another “metal” ink my Edison Beaumont Molten Ores would like. Bronze. Yep!

:D  Enjoy!  It's wonderfully murky!

Thanks for the review.

I just picked up a bottle of this ink on clearance at half-price from a national chain bricks-and-mortar bookstore (but I didn't realise at the time you'd reviewed it; I just quickly checked the colour on Mountain of Ink before I committed to the purchase). Looking forward to using it some time this decade, hehe!

Aside: The same Dymocks store also had a ‘last’ bottle of KWZ Ink IG Green #3 (of which I already have a bottle) on clearance. The 50%-off price was still more than what it would cost me to order one from LCdC any day of the week!

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

Seriously, Dymocks carries these inks now? Last time I went to the one in George St there was some weird Atramides ones and obvious Lamy and Parker stuff.

Dymocks ...‹snip›... the one in George St

Yes, and there's an almost perpetual “Pen Sale” sign in store for the past few months; every time I popped my head in, there are some bottled inks offered at 30%–50% off, but usually in the pink, orange or yellow ranges, but I've seen Visconti Turquoise (a while back) and Visconti Red (last week) in the clearance display. Herbin inks, too; and even the odd TAG Kyoto ink. However, its prices for imported brands are risibly high, and even with a 30% discount is more expensive than ordering online (including sometimes on Amazon.com.au) and having it delivered. Robert Oster is about the only brand ‘worth’ checking out in Dymocks; the regular in-store price is A$21.95, so 10% more than what has been the ‘normal’ everyday price elsewhere (although I see Milligram has also now put the price up to the same as Dymocks's), and with a 30% discount it wouldn't be too bad if you happen to like the colour(s) on clearance. I'm hoping to score a discounted bottle of Robert Oster Orange Rumble there one day.
