Just to bring this back to life for reasons Karmachanic will understand ;), having read this, am I correct in thinking that there is no source for a Bock #8 housing with a steel nib?    Gold and titanium are prohibitively expensive for me.

Bock does NOT currently make a #8 steel nib.  They don't sell loose housings (for when the fins on the feeds break), and I doubt they have any interest in doing either.  As backed up as they are I bet they're happy doing things the way they are.

Bock might make them for a bulk order.

Titanium.  20 years from now you'll still be enjoying it  😁

Add lightness and simplicate.

Huh. So Magna Carta makes #6 Ti nibs with ebonite feeds for Rs 2k. Will have to try that at some point. Hope they and Kanwrite manage to get their #8 nibs made this year.

What makes titanium nibs so enjoyable to you? The mushy feeling?

For me it's the pencil-like feedback.

Pardon, but wouldn't that depend solely on how the nib was ground?

I'm not an expert, but I've experienced it consistently with three titanium nibs, and almost never with gold or steel.  I have read similar reports online of the smooth writing with pleasant feedback like soft graphite.

No experience of "mushy" with any of my 6 Ti nibs.  Soft?  Yes. Tending towards semi-flex?  Yes.  And pencil like feedback, which I enjoy; this is part of Ti's characteristics.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Kanwrite 40mm nibs are not #8 nibs

Add lightness and simplicate.

I think you meant to say Ambitious's 40mm there? Kanwrite don't have anything above size #6. If you meant Ambitious, I agree with you there. I admit I shouldn't have said anything about Kanwrite's nib ( size 9, not  8).

Kanwrite was going to release a #9 nib years ago. I am still waiting.

Strangely Penhouse has a few number 8 nibs (Kanwrite).

Edit: HartGummi later informed me that these are smaller than Kanwrite's 35mm nibs!:headsmack:

Kanwrite's "#8" nib is smaller than the #6 nib.

Welp, guess that is of no use then! Thank you for pointing that out HartGummi and Hari317!

The # typically denotes the width of the nib base. However Indian nib terminology is different (and irregular).

If Kanwrite were to release their #9 nib then I would definitely order a pen from Guider or Ranga. #6 nibs looks comically small on the bigger pens.

Kanwrite's #9 nib next to a #6 nib.
