Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Robert Oster Moss

This is review #69 in my series.  Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: The zoom is fairly close to the correct color - perhaps a tiny bit darker than from my nib.  Cleaning was quick and easy.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

I've been looking for an earthy green like this... I'll definitely have to check this one out! Thanks for this - always a fan of your EFNIRs, LizEF! :)

It's Tuesday, already? ;)

I have to admit, I don't like the name nor the colour.

Being a moss maniac, this has nothing to do with a fresh patch of moss..... more like moss in the dead of summer when there's no rain....

Hope these glyphs help Qüíntús and what's it's name ;:

:) Thanks, Percy!  Earthy is a good descriptor.

Looks like a lovely colour! I wonder how it compares with Classic Green.

:D Watch the start of the video - I have a Diamine Classic Green swatch next to Moss's swatch.

Robert Oster Moss is rapidly becoming one of my favorite green inks.  Thanks for doing the review.

Quite like the look of this one - another Robert Oster on the list. I'm not sure if it's different enough to some of my other murky greens though. I think it might be sample time :)

My sort of color, but I already have Noodler's 'Murk,' my own mix.  Thanks for the review!

:)  You're welcome!

Really nice green. I like it a lot. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I just looked in my stash of yet-to-try Robert Oster samples, and YES! I have a small 2 ml sample of it. Gonna try it out soon.

Thanks for the review.

So another one with weird naming sense, I like the colour though, performance on most papers I use will be bad though but I feel it will show consistent results (along with consistent fuzziness) on absorbent paper seeing it paled on Tomoe.

naming sense...well lets say its just as good at telling what they represent as glyphs puzzle where quintus and Makebash Makhabesh are trapped (the names:lticaptd:).

You're very welcome.  I suppose the weirdness of the name depends on what sort of moss you compare it to? (I'm no moss expert...)  Anywho, yeah, someone using really bad paper may want to pick a different ink, or embrace the fuzz, so to speak. :D

Speaking of sphinxes and glyph puzzles, do we all remember this one (trust me, well worth the 3.5 minutes):

Embrace the fuzz...hmm now that would be one interesting fuzzy fine......might as well not give manufacturers ideas to make this a feature.

Not the video is classic example of "they just don't make it that good these days"...I mean look at the battery and electronic...they lasted so long.....on side note camel has dark days ahead:lticaptd:

  • 1 year later...

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 280µm.
