Love the bottles. Love shin-kai and its colour change when it dries. As mentioned by some others, these inks may give very different results with wider nibs as compared to narrower ones.

I think you are essentially describing the Ostwald Colour System, which identifies the purest form of each colour. Too complicated to attempt a description here, but worth checking out online.

Thanks, that is an interesting reference, and one with which I was not familiar. Even with a limited number of colors, agreeing on what constitutes a "pure" color is difficult. Typical digital color resolutions these days (in the RGB sense) now commonly run into the millions or even billions of colors, so it is almost impossible to discern a "pure color". Even the primary "Red", "Green", and "Blue" of a display screen are dependent on whether or not one considers those three primary colors coming out of the display to be "pure" or not.

So, I suppose perhaps the notion of a "pure" color is not only one of definition, it is also one of perception, and maybe even philosophy, so I suppose the odds of universal agreement are also, approximately, zero.

I agree the bottles are cool, though I also agree with some other comments about making sure the cap and liner are clean before resealing the bottle. I think maybe the caps are made from a thermoset (Bakelite, for those of you old enough to know what that is), which makes them nice and stiff for a good seal, but also a somewhat brittle and subject to cracking, which can lead to catastrophic leaks and storage disasters, so keeping all the moving parts pristine is not just for looks. Oh, and be careful not to cross-thread the cap when resealing... :)

I am a big fan of Shin Kai and Asa Gao.

But nothing beats the good old standard Pilot Blue Black for me. That stuff is as delicious as the Iroshizuku inks.

@N1003UIf you are looking for a good, true red, maybe have a look at KWZ Thief's Red. That is as red to my eyes as red can be. No orange, no yellow, no blue, just a nice, bright and little bit bloody red.

Thanks for the tip. KWZ is one manufacturer I haven’t checked out yet.

It was only a few months ago I bought my first KWZ inks, and I suspect of all the companies out there, they'll be the one I buy the most inks from in 2021.
