Montblanc 149 filling problem

I've recently bought a brand new (still in store) Montblanc 149 90th anniversary. Though the pen writes great, there are significant issues with it. Immediately after purchase I wanted to refill after I had done it a first time, but the second time the piston refused to work. It wouldn't screw down/up, as it was stuck. I immediately sent it in for service, and on first impressions they resolved the problem. However, as I am filling it now, it seemingly refuses to take a full fill. If I put the nib up, the filler window remains completely clear. It seems it only takes about half a fill. I did some research and after testing a few methods already posted in this forum to acquire a full fill, it still didn't work. I went on to check for an air leak, and I might've found one. This is where I need your help. Is it normal that when submerged in ink/water, and turning clockwise to suck up ink/water, there are air bubbles coming out of the piston screw mechanism at the end of the pen as I'm doing this?
 Now, I know I can write with the pen on a half charge, but for this amount of money I expect it to work flawlessly. I'd be really disappointed if I'd have to send it in for a second service and lose it for another month, but so be it if need be.

Send it back, ask them, nicely, to fix it properly, or replace it, and thank you very much.

Add lightness and simplicate.

Absolutely not.  

 

I'm curious: Was it serviced by the Montblanc service center, a Montblanc boutique or an independent retailer?

I already thought so, my suspicions are confirmed.
I bought it at an official Montblanc seller (not boutique), but it was sent for service to Montblanc itself (I had to wait more than a month for the first service). I have a 147 that's also in for service with a filler problem. 
To be honest, I'm quite let down by their customer service, especially at this pricepoint.

haha, I would have expected them to do that the first time, but oh well patience is a virtue I guess.

Some time ago I had same problem..because I have tools and knowledge I take my 149 apart and lubricated piston filler. Everything is fine now. It seems some piston filler turn dry in stored time.

Seems like it should be straight forward for the repair folks to fix? Unless there are some faulty versions of the pen.

 

I'm concerned because I just sent my new 149 back to Montblanc for service for the same reason. From the start the Piston turn was very stiff. After a few weeks it got stiffer, so off for service. I got it back in late October, so I'm expecting that this will be covered by the warranty.

I had a chat with a Montblanc sales Rep and they're very embarrassed about the whole situation. They say that this time they will then have to do a 'full revision' which will of course be free as it is covered in the warranty. Though they showed good intentions, this to me is also slightly problematic as well because that full revision should have taken place during the first service

I guess I just had bad luck with mine; most 149 pistons seemingly work just fine after a service 
Did you buy a brand new pen, or a new pen that had been lying in the store for quite some time? The latter was the case with me and I'm afraid that's what caused the lack in lubrication and therefore the faulty piston as well

I purchased a new pen from a retailer in the  Netherlands. Given the stiffness out of bid i wondered if it was old stock. We will see .

I bought mine from a retailer in Belgium; it's in for service for the second time right now, let's hope for the best
