What an odd question... won't you like to provide a bit more info?

Like for example if you really mean Pinerider or Pineider?

If you are talking of Pineider (I just noticed my spelling corrector likes Pinerider better...) it depends on the pen.

Also note that Pineider is a stationary brand, usually their pens are made by third parties.

I own one which is made by Stipula for example.

Are they worth $400 dollars? Discuss!

Of course... It is an Italian pen and any Italian product is heir of Leonardo and Michel Angelo craftmanship.. :lticaptd: :lticaptd:..well that's what they believe

Spell checks are a b...h aren't they? I have only heard of this pen company recently, and many would question the high prices which certain pen companies demand for their products, new and used!

So if you have bought one of these pens, share with us your thoughts about these Italian beauties!

If you check the forum for Pen Reviews, you will find any number of reviews of various Pineider pens, done by people who have worked hard to delve out the kind of information you are probably looking for.

I just looked them up. They are not attractive to me and so, they are not worth the asking price. That said, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

It depends on how much you are willing to pay for them. When I first see a new pen social media, internet etc., I kinda set a price that I might be willing to pay for it, which is completely subjective based on what that particular pen is offering me. This price could change drastically after I have had the chance to try it out.

Personally I don't think the standard, non-fancy, non LE gold nib ones are not really worth $400 in my opinion. The pens are well made with unique materials and top tier quality.

I haven't tried their fancier filling systems yet so maybe they are, maybe they're not worth $400+

Michelangelo, or to be more precise Michelangelo Buonarroti. Not Michel Angelo.

As I was mentioning, it's an odd question because it depends on the pen.

Also consider that since Pineider is a stationery brand, their pens being made by third parties, it means that Pineider is an intermediary to a certain extent and there will be a price premium to pay (not unusual in the pen world though... ). In most cases you will buy a Pineider in a Pineider shop and that may cost you a bit more too.

So far I have not paid a Pineider pen $400... so I was wondering which one you mean.

I bought La Grande Bellezza from Chatterley's at usd 260, which was not bad, I've seen them selling for even less now (not in a Pineider shop though...).

This is my Lapis (seller's photo)

The other Pineider I'm really fond of though is this Juliet in green ebonite. This pen was made by Stipula for Pineider.

sansenri: I must say that I much prefer this version of the Pineider pens over the chrome-band magnetic cap. I like their new resin “Arco” but it would be nice to have it with minimum metal parts and just the traditional way in which pens are made. Even c/c would be ok. Thank you for sharing!

I'm not a fan of Pineder pens, but I like very much Pineider letter paper which I use from almost 30 years now for my hand-written letters. It is blody expansive, but the best paper available for my knowledge, and very nice with the thick engraving of the name.

In spring this year I bought 2 Avatar pens, one in green/teal (Abalone green) and one in red (Devil red). I payed €95 the green and €85 the red, both brand new but from different sources.

Overall for that price i think Avatar is quite a decent pen: acrilic is not great but quite good, both in color and in feeling using the pen; nice nibs as they write and also for the engraving, very nice clip and cap ring, both also nicely engraved. It is not so important, but also packaging was very nice.

Looking at the market, I think there is not too much available of similar quality for that price.

Avatar is relatively similar to Visconti Rembrandt, but nicer and quite cheaper.

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures:

  • 2 years later...

I am going  through this pen today. According to the pen description, the clip is 18K solid gold. If it is true, the clip will worth $400.
