Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Diamine Misty Blue

This is review #43 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: Cleaning: Super easy, only a few flushes with water needed (or a single bulb-syringe of water).

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Nice view and quite interesting color indeed, I especially like the point of its different color depending on nib (happens with all inks to some extent but this one shows it quite nicely apparently). What do you think its performance for office papers especially bleeding.

Thanks for sharing. Might get a bottle for myself later.

I didn't see any bleed on the absorbent paper I use to test (which is puzzle-book paper, sort of like thick newsprint). There were a few spots (those darker points where your pen stops just before you lift it) where it shows through, but no bleed. It performs quite well on that absorbent paper, so unless your office paper happens to be the worst paper on the planet, I suspect it'll do just fine (in an EF or fine nib, or maybe a dry medium).

It's definitely worth a sample, at least. As I mentioned, it's one of those where I tend to forget about it - because my memory says it's an ordinary blue - but which I always enjoy as soon as I start using it. Waterman Inspired Blue is the other ink that happens with. :)

Great review Liz!

As for the ink, I prefer the hyena by far ;)

Thanks!

 Did you know the hyena is more closely related to cats than dogs? That wizard really should have spent more time with nature shows. ;)

Misty Blue is a very pleasant ink to use. It's mild, has complexity, and a vintage character. Looks a lot like a vintage Waterman Permanent Blue Black I have. Quite nice for water brush drawing too.

“I admit it, I'm surprised that fountain pens are a hobby. ... it's a bit like stumbling into a fork convention - when you've used a fork all your life.”

Excellent description. And yeah, I bet it would work well with a water brush (as long as someone besides me was wielding it :P ).

No. I didn't.....my cat was offended. :P ...... and wishes the wizard to hex the hyena into a nice mouse, so she could give it a lesson wondering willy nilly into the mysterious realm of misty blue :D

 Can't blame your cat for being offended. I'll speak to the wizard about sending her a mouse. (Given this wizard's skills, don't be surprised if it looks like this:

That is gorgeous. Now, for a matching ink...

:lticaptd:

Is it bad that I really want one of these now? Even though I don't need one, since I have a trackpad on my laptop?

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Now you have the wizard and the cat offended ;)

The wizard turned the hyena into a mouse to feed the aggrieved cat that had been told by quick fox, who had in turn been told so by the lazy dog, that she was related somehow that mangy spotted four legged freaky character was related to her, but to wizard's surprise the hyena turned out into an inanimate object.

The cat, applauded the craftiness of the creature, yet to to teach it a lesson, threw it in a jug of water....

You can continue the rest in the next episode ;)
