Waterman Cf Leaks

Bought a converter for a Waterman CF, cleaned the pen, ink it and got serious case of Blue Fingers. The ink appears to come through a gap between the resin and the metal inlay. Can anyone recommend a cure for this? The pen has a nice 14K nib plus it belongs to She Who Must Be Obeyed and I've already committed enough sins as it is.

Where did you get the converter? It is often best to refuill old cartridges.

You can also get new converters from Pentooling.com. I ordered two - one for each of my C/Fs. They arrived quickly, if this matters to you.

Hope these suggestions help -

Erick

Using right now:

Waterman Expert Deluxe "F nib running Narwhal Carmel Sea Blue

Diplomat Viper "F" nib, running Jacques Herbin 1670 Émeraude de Chivor

Moonman 800 "F" nib running Van Dieman's Heemskerck and Zeehaen

Rats! I missed those on Pentooling, got two from missing-pen.de. Thank you for the tip about Pentooling, Erick. I really like the CF and I never had one leak before.

Happy writing,

If you have other C/F s that have convertors, I suggest you switch to one that works well, fill with water and determine if the problem is the pen or the convertor.

If you don't have another convertor take an empty cartridge, fill it with water and do the same.

The leaks are definitely happening alongside the chromed overlays on the grip. Epoxy or Captain Tolley's sealant might work but I would take the nib out and I'm not sure about the seal I've seen in pictures. I'm getting cold feet, maybe something to do this Winter. Thank you folks for the comments. Happy writing!
