Omas Saft Green Nib Replacement

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I recently obtained a nib to replace the current one on my Omas Ogiva saft green fountain pen.

Can someone let me know how to disassemble the nib unit and reassemble without causing any damage.

Regards,

Liston

The nib and feed is housed in a collar which will screw out with a bit of heat. Unfortunately over time the collars became fragile and can crack so if that doesn't work you can unscrew the section (with some heat) and knock it out. Sometimes you can even wiggle the nib out with a steady back and forth tug. Here are some helpful links.

The collar you mention has been used from Omas only for some years, and therefore is not present in all pens.

I cannot say if it is present or not in the model of the author of this thread, but this can be easly checked looking at the pen, as the collar is indented and a special tool is needed to unscrew it. Similar to that one of Mont Blanc. If you look at the pen where nib and feed enter the body and if you see 2 small slots, this is the collar.

Pay attention as this collar will not unscrew turning the nib and feed, as it is not like the housing of a nib unit.

Inside the pen the feeder is much longer than the collar. It is different than a unit housing nib and feeder.

You need to pull out the nib and feed first or to push that parts out unscrewing the end of the pen from the body, and then pushing out nib and feed from behind.

At that point after having removed nib and feed from upper or lower part of the section, you can unscrew the collar using the tool suitable for this.

But as the collar is fragile, and as it has not too much sense to remove it, I never touch it.

Older Omas has nib and feed friction fitted without the collar.

I'm not that much familiar with the more recent as my collection is mostly in 0mas with in house maded nib.
