This is not fun anymore to me and is only one of the reasons why I will take a break from FPN for the time being.

Greetings Christof, if you are still with us. I just found you and I'll be enjoying your photos I'm sure. Perhaps FPN needs improvement in the way new users are introduced, perhaps a user guide of some sort that's prepared in a creative way to motivate newbie folks to explore -- if there already is such a thing then I don't know about it, and there's the rub.

Cheers!

Christof

I'm so sad Christof. I love your photography, your contributions, your knowledge and your pens (well most of them anyway). I have only been posting here for a short time, but have been reading for years and have enjoyed the little glimpses into your world.

I hope to run into you somewhere else from time to time, and perhaps once the advertising settles down a bit, we'll see you here again.

Christof, your pictures are pure eye candy. I didn´t post a lot in your thread but I dropped by very often just to admire the pictures.

I will miss your contributions and I just wanted to say, lack of posting doesn´t mean lack of interest. I very much enjoyed your settings, often making me look at things from a new perspective.

It´s true though, since the middle of March the ads have become a nuisance, especially in the mobile version, but also in the version on my computer. I fully understand your annoyance there.

As one of the newbies in question, this sounds like a great idea! I'm wondering: what do you think the core lessons would be?

Christof, I've loved your pictures and am sorry to see you go!

This is the only thread I am Following, other than threads I started myself. I wasn't aware there was a protocol for reacting to the photos within the thread.

I'm not sure what I'm doing that's different from other people, but I'm not seeing ads. I have this site whitelisted in my ad blocker, but I have my anti-tracker turned on in my anti-virus software. Wim indicated when I asked that the board would still get credit for me seeing ads, so it seems to be the best of both worlds.

Sorry to hear you go :(

Even though I didn't post much here I always checked for new updates on your threads. Hopefully we'll meet again in greener pastures.

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow

Hi Cristof, just want to say that your photography has been bright spark in FPN for me.

I'm inspired by the creative composition and faultless lighting of your photos.

You must have put in so much effort in these photos, thank you.

I do hope that you would continue to post your very interesting collection and photos from time to time when the time is right.

I agree the ads have become intrusive and I would leave FPN, too, if I had to see them. Luckily I decided to become a paying member a few years back because I thought it right to support the people who run this, so I have an ad-free experience.

I think Paul-in-SF’s recommendation is great and I’ll try it on other apps!

Don't you think that threads like this, or this: What's Up At Christof's  are also a way of supporting FPN?

To everyone else: thanks for all the nice replies. I really appreciate it.

Maybe I was unclear, but I did mention that the reasons for my break are more varied than just the ads or lack of feedback (that was never my point).  Specifically, I'm currently missing the contentful interaction with other members who are interested in the same things as I am. That's the main reason for why I'm taking a break.

Who knows what the future will bring.

Stay healthy!
Christof

Welcome back!

What's the pen?

Thank you Ruth.

The pen is a Pelikan 101, lizard skin celluloid from ca. 1936.

(The girl is from a black and white ad from an old magazine, I think it was Fortune.)

Pelikan 100 with caps in other celluloids than black were called 101.

Beautiful!

Thankyou for sharing your art.

It's taken me from a doldrums day... to figuring out how I can get some time in my own studio tonight.

Will work for pens...
