The Pelikan 100N toledo is memorable because it is a fountain pen that I spent a lot of time restoring.

Not only this pen, but several other pens were in terrible condition when I got them and I restored them myself.

Thank you @tacitus. I very much enjoy hearing about pens that have special meaning. As my accumulation of pens has grown over the years, I find the ones  I reach for most often are ones that have  a special story or history behind them.

Today I am writing with an M800 Burnt Orange that I have only because of a kind FPNer who noticed it in a shop, remembered a post somewhere in the Pelikan forum that I was passively looking for one, and then even reached out to me and helped me acquire it. It was such a joy to receive that pen, and I re-live that joy a little bit every time I pick it up.

You are welcome, N1003U. 😄 I still remember that transaction with the greatest joy and I am happy you are enjoying that pen.

Thank you @N1003U for your comment. I think one of the roles of FPN is to share information, so I'm glad if my post is of some help😄.

Besides those great Pelikans... great colors as well! Love it!

Sigh.

Those are GORGEOUS.  I would dearly love one of that line (either the 900s or the smaller 700s) but the prices are such that it will likely never happen (I saw some beauties over the weekend at the Ohio Pen Show -- and then I looked the price tags and walked away really quickly....)

Nice! You seem to have excellent luck in finding vintage Pelikans.

Too bad Finland is pretty much a veritable desert when it comes to quality vintage pens, especially Pelikans… one can make higher quality finds occasionally but those are few and far between.

That is a lovely set of birds.

The biology of Pelikan pens is interesting. It seems you start with just one, and somehow they still multiply rapidly. A bit like Tribbles.

Possibly as much of a menace as they were on the Enterprise, unless they were not top of the food chain on their home world....

Ooh.  It just now occurred to me that that episode of the original Star Trek series (and one of the few I saw as a kid) made an interesting dig about invasive species of plants and animals here on Earth....  And I didn't realize it until just now, because Tribbles are WAY cuter than, say, stinkbugs....

Well, I wouldn't have known because I have never seen any Star Trek (whatever that might be)!

The show (or any of the subsequent movies spin-offs) were never shown in the UK?  Or do you just not like science fiction?

The original show was on for 3 seasons in the US in the mid to late 1960s, and concerned a space ship that traveled around the galaxy as an exploration vessel trying to find other planets with sentient species on them.  The crew was mostly (but not entirely) made up of humans as part of an interplanetary alliance.  It's spawned several subsequent series plus several movies (some of the movies are prequels).  The later shows are a generation after the time setting the original series.  I haven't seen much of the recent series, Star Trek: Picard; or Star Trek: Strange New Worlds because I think they're only available on a streaming service (and only saw a few episode of the prequel (?) series, Star Trek: Discovery.  But was a huge fan of not only the original series, but some of the later spin-offs: Star Trek: Next GenerationStar Trek: Deep Space Nine (set on a space station) and Star Trek: Voyager (due to some sort of accident) a ship ends up on the other side of the galaxy -- or maybe even a different one, I forget now -- and the captain and her crew trying to find their way back to "known" space.

The various series episodes I've seen are generally pretty good.  The movies, OTOH, are kind of hit or miss (my husband claims that only the even numbered movies are worth watching -- the first movie has the nickname of "Star Trek: The Motionless Picture"... ).  There's also an animated series that I've seen some episodes of (also on a streaming service) called Star Trek: Lower Decks which is humorous dig at the original series -- pretty funny in places.
