Help With Stuck Screw In Nib

I am trying to swap out my Leonardo Momento Zero Nib. The replacement nib I bought from the same seller is a complete collar + feed + nib unit in one. It is clearly screw type from the thread. I have tried like hell to screw it out but it seems stuck. I also very gently tried tugging as my Grande had the tug type, but I know the Leonardo Reg Momento Zero’s newer ones are screw in ( reinforced by fact that the replacement t I bought is also screw in) . Mine is the Positano with the number 1296 so may well be an older ‘ tug’ type.

a) would anyone know how to unscrew a stuck nib?

B) anyway to tell if my particular pen has screw in or friction. Would be good to know before I applied force pulling.

c) any other suggestions.

many thanks in advance

Gently pull out the nib and feed from the housing thats stuck inside the section.

Use a tapered triangular file, insert into the housing's mouth. This gives a good grip and you unscrew the housing from the section. Use heat to loosen any glue and make the section slightly pliable.

Alternatively after you have pulled out the existing nib and feed. Replace with the new nib and feed. Let the housing remain stuck.

Hope this helps.

Will try I am trying to figure if I did the section in hot water whether the housing ( likely plastic) will expand less or more than the acrylic of the section? Thanks, Rajesh

Try warm water first. Sometimes pens/materials don't like hot water.

It's worth letting it soak in a glass of water over night. While a nib unit that is torqued in is not uncommon, sometimes dried ink keeps the nib unit from coming out. Either way, a soak lets water get into the threads, which often loosens things.

Thanks Ron, it’s soaking!

I have to admit, that every time I see the title, my first response is "what, a screw stuck in a nib?? Yikes!" Then, "Oh, duh."
