Removing Stuck Screw In Nib Of Leonardo Momento Zero

I am trying to swap out my Leonardo Momento Zero Nib. The replacement nib I bought from the same seller is a complete collar + feed + nib unit in one. It is clearly screw type from the thread. I have tried like hell to screw it out but it seems stuck. I also very gently tried tugging as my Grande had the tug type, but I know the Leonardo Reg Momento Zero’s newer ones are screw in ( reinforced by fact that the replacement t I bought is also screw in) . Mine is the Positano with the number 1296 so may well be an older ‘ tug’ type.

 

a) would anyone know how to unscrew a stuck nib?
anyway to tell if my particular pen has screw in or friction. Would be good to know before I applied force pulling.

c) any other suggestions.

I believe I remember it being said in an early review somewhere of the Leonardo Momento Zero pens that the nib housings/collars were glued in. And I know for certain that when I bought my first Leonardo MZ that only bare nibs were sold as replacements, no feed or collar, not the complete assemblies as they are sold now.

 

Other than warming the section to see if it might loosen the glue enough to allow the nib unit to be removed it might just be safer to pull the nib and feed out.

I seem to recall that when the Momento Zero and the Furore first came on the market, the nibs were friction fit. At some point, Leonardo switched to screw-in nib/feed/collar units. If you have an earlier MZ, you can gently but firmly pull out the nib and feed. There’s always an element to risk in this, so when in doubt: don’t.
