Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu

This is review #25 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Notes: The color and shading did not reproduce well!! It looks nicer than in images.  Required some pen flush to remove a bit of blue forming a ring in the converter and parts of the section.

And here is a screen of the final result, for those not interested in the video:

Right on time.....It feels like the olden times, when Netflix didn't exist and we waited impatiently the next episode of whatever sitcom.... :P

I have my Green inks lined up, so I'm fine, phew : :D

Great job. Thanks!

 Netflix doesn't exist (in my house)! Thank goodness for ink reviews! As for your line of green inks - I'm not sure it's possible to have enough / all the right ones. They're always making something I feel the need to at least sample. (Samples are either draining or saving my bank account, I'm just not sure which! )

Thank you, and you're welcome! :)

This used to be my favorite green ink. I loved its behavior and the beautiful copper sheen. Ultimately I decided it was too olive for my preferred green, and not olive enough for my preferred olive green :)

I have several, well many, well quite lot samples in my little box to try, but when I realized I like only waterproof inks it made my life much much easier....

The selection narrower and writing much more pleasurable...... at least for now ;)

One thing about variety is it causes us to realize that what we once enjoyed isn't quite as enjoyable as this other thing...

But thanks to this review, I think I like Tokiwa-Matsu better from a drier nib, so this one may find new life for me. :)

Thanks! This one is a pretty nice ink. As I just posted, I think I like the color better from a drier nib than a wetter one. Not sure if I have the right nib or not - I'll have to test more some time. Anywho, I think it's worth a sample if you like the color range represented by a google image search. ;)

Ah, yes, I remember now that you mentioned this before. I guess that's one way to control your habit, erm, hobby... :P

Yeah. The problem is now I'm finding more interesting, intriuging inks for the future.... :D

It seems there's no end to them! They're everywhere and everyone's making them.

Looks like a nice green ... I guess it will translate well to F/M, which are the nib sizes I use most often. These Sailor inks are something I must try out someday, but not soon ... I've put myself on a "new ink"-less diet for the rest of the year. Too many inks that I haven't used yet in my backlog :)

Yes, it definitely translates well, just know that the wetter the ink nib, the darker it goes, to the point where it's dark enough that it's hard to see the green, and the less shading you get.

Like you, my ink acquisitions are on hold until I've used up (and reviewed) more of what I already have - particularly the samples.

Excellent analogy, and I miss that.

Wow, amazingly bright and lively in the EF. I remember it being darker back when I used it.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Exactly! From a wet nib, it's very dark. Hence my decision to only use this in dry nibs from now on!

Thanks for the review. I've got a medium nibbed 1911 standard curretly inked with it and it works very well. However, I think I like Epinard a little more (at least for now) as it is a little darker and less yellow. You can never have enough greens!
