Impulsive?

I went to a local shop to buy a Herbin Orange Indien, but

then I saw that they also had a 10ml bottle of Herbin Ambre de Birmane....

I got that, as well...

Edelstein Moonstone. It showed up "used like new" on Amazon with a substantial discount. Hitting the BiN button was almost reactive in that "holy smokes that price can't be right!" way. As nearly as I can tell the bottle was never opened, thought the box has definitely been around the block a few times.

When swatched, Moonstone is very similar to Noodler's Lexington Gray, to my eye.  Moonstone has perhaps just a hint of pink where Noodler's leans slightly green.

I've been enjoying the posts about the Diamine Advent ink unveils. I was very tempted to pick one up myself when I saw this year's for sale for $75 at Fountain Pen Hospital, but I've already got a backlog of inks to sample and put away on my desk. Plus, five more winging their way towards me as we speak.

Back to the topic, I threw in a bottle of Jacques Herbin Bleu Austral ink to qualify for free shipping on my Goulet order. One of the reviews mentioned that it was like 1670 Emerald of Chivor, but without the shimmer. I love Herbin's sparkly inks, but only in easy to clean Pilot Parallels. So, I want to try this is one of my fancier pens. It's supposed to arrive today.

Note: No affiliation with either vendor, except as customer, of course.

@SLinkster why is it always just so much more satisfying when you get a deal? If I save any more money, I'll be broke.

:lticaptd:

I haven't ordered any ink. Maybe I should save some money too.

Will work for pens...

Aaahhhh well since we're saving on ink lately I may have used a coupon at Goldspot to economize --

  • Diamine Inkvent Green Edition Chameleon Solar Storm
  • Diamine Inkvent Red Edition Shimmer & Sheen All the Best (I saw a swatch and had that "oooohhh shiny!" reaction)
  • Robert Oster Aussie Gold

There's a strong possibility I also ordered a pen, but that's a thread in a different forum...

I really should not be allowed near the internet on my days off.

@AmandaW it’s tough with an entire network of enablers like us. 😁

Sadly, it's not just this forum.

A few months ago I was trying to find bottles of Namiki Black for my husband, since he was getting low.  And ended up doing an entire spreadsheet of "who's got what pens/inks" in stock at the moment, and what else have they got to make it worth me buying enough to qualify for free shipping...." and ended up dropping about $150 US on an order to Cult Pens, including buying the black and gold al-Star LE from a couple of years ago -- a pen I completely ignored at the time it came out....

A couple of the inks I haven't even tried yet (like Robert Oster Bishop to King) -- although I really liked  Cult Blue, the exclusive Robert Oster made for them.

And of course what did I do a couple of weekends ago?  Go hit up an estate sale and came home with five partial bottles of vintage Sanford Pen-It ink, in different colors, and the Lady Sheaffer 620.  Getting a working converter for the pen (which came yesterday in the mail from Peyton Street Pens) cost more than the pen and the five bottles COMBINED..... :headsmack:  (Heck, even at the "still on the cap" sticker price for the pen I paid more for the converter....)

AAAAGH!  Now I'm ear worming the original song!  :wallbash:

And what's worse?  I'm old enough to remember when that song was originally released (and probably heard it on the radio, although there's only a few songs I actually remember getting airplay during the "Summer of Love"...).

Sigh.  Another song to add to the file of lyrics I have on my computer....

I was rewatching Love Actually at the time, and placing online orders on Amazon while I was at it.

Ordered some notebooks from Stilo & Stile and needed to add some items to get free shipment.

Added a Sailor x Bungubox Umi-iro Ruri Sea. A really lovely deep blue ink with nice burgundy sheen.

I thought I had posted about it, but I guess I didn’t- I found someone selling NOS bottles of Waterman’s Patrician Purple on the ‘bay. I was curious, so I ordered one. I verified it was ok, no leaks or damage, and put it under the tree for the week. I really need to get into doing ink reviews for real, as I have a lot that I don’t see listed as having been reviewed here (not this ink, it has one excellent review). I might try the form to help give me some structure.

I just received a like-new and full bottle of Parker Superchrome Turquoise Blue. When I open it, I will take PDFs of some swabs and scribble some with it.

A couple of years ago, I bought a near-full bottle of Superchrome Blue-Black, which, as advertised, dries almost immediately and will not wash off. I suspect Superchrome will outlast the paper if left in a bowl of water for a day. Color? iIt is about the same as any other blue-black...nothing flashy. Just a black that leans a little toward blue.
