Montblanc toffee brown at Stockholm airport. Just couldn't resist.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Here's about as inkaholic moment as inkaholic moments get - and yes, quite impulsive. I went to Vanness to place an order that had been simmering in my cart for a few weeks (I got distracted by FPD and then Black Friday sales on other sites), planning on using a 15% rewards discount I'd been saving. But...then I noticed that they had 15% off Color Traveler inks for one day only, which I like quite a bit and don't work with the rewards discounts. So...I deleted all the bottles and samples I had planned on ordering, and placed an order for three CT bottles and three more samples, then...went back and put the other stuff in the cart, to wait another couple weeks.

I was waylaid by Color Traveler, in other words.

oh please share what you got !
I am in love with the Sanuki Udondashi Gold I got during my trip to one of the Tayama stationery stores.
Now I am looking at their latest shimmer ink Fireworks, sadly not a lot of ink swatch samples are available

Despite being out of room for more bottles, I’ve got Pelikan’s Edelstein Mandarin and Golden Beryl on the way. I’ve gotten quite enamored of this line as my more exciting inks take their tool on my vintage pens. And my weird completest mentality has me coveting the entire line. I don’t even use 90% of the other oranges I have. Yikes!

@Misfit thanks! It’s been almost an entire year. I do love you guys and this site, but  I always get tempted by all the fabulous new offerings and other collector’s pens and ink. And as I’ve bought three pens and fours inks in the last month I don’t trust my will power.

I looked at my phone in bed, never good. Saw an email from Birmingham Pens that showed Nemosine stub nibs on sale. Clicked on it, added those to the cart. Then I looked at inks. Lunar Dust! Impulsively added it. The bottle has a more interesting label. Lunar Dust is supposed to go from light gray to dark depending on paper.

Well, I already had two - Kazusanosuke (which is almost close to Urahairo, but not quite) and Tsukinokorowa (a lovely shady purple in the Milky Ocean/Nekoyanagi family). But I ordered Time for Whisky, Naoshima Azure, and Kure Battleship Yamato Grey in bottles, plus samples of the light brown, bamboo green, and inland sea blue. They haven't arrived yet.

Interesting.  Because it doesn't say that on the website that I could find (I just looked to see what Lunar Dust looked like).

I keep forgetting to look at their website.  I got spoiled by when they had the B&M store in Pittsburgh, and I'd wander in every now and then going, "So, Nick -- whatcha got in new?"

Separated at birth? I wasn't looking in bed, but I got the same poke and put a couple of .6 stubs in the basket... and promptly added a bottle of Rotted Cork. We'll see...

Just my luck. I only have brothers. 😉 They have a great price on #5 stub nibs in a 5-pack. I hope I have enough pens for that. I got three 1.-1mm and one 0.8mm in the #6 size.

@inkstainedruth maybe I misread it.  Here is a copy of what Birmingham Pens said about Lunar Dust

“Lunar Dust fountain pen ink captures the ethereal greys of the moon's surface, shading from a soft, silvery light grey to the dark, cratered charcoal of a moonlit night when applied on hydrophobic paper.

Lunar Dust is part of the Keystone Formula line, our traditional dye-colorant ink. The 100mL volume will provide approximately 125 standard converter refills assuming a 0.8mL draw. “

I mentioned this under Market Watch, but Amazon Japan (not the seller on Amazon.com, but the Japanese Amazon store), has lots of Japanese ink in stock at the moment for shipping to the US, and I assume other countries.  I ordered several bottles of Sailor Workshop that I didn't have, and 2 series that I had never heard of before...

Oh, I fell for the Birmingham inks big time!  I now have Bellflower, Firebox, Talings Pond, Railroad Spike, Distressed Leather, and Streetcar.  How did I end up with so many inks? I haven't even tried them all, but the ones I have tried, I like a lot. The only thing is that they are not very tolerant with poor paper quality...

Using right now:

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Schon DSGN Pocket Six "F" nib running Pelikan 4001 Blue

Moonman A! "EF" nib running Ferris Wheel Press Wonderous Winterberry

Stipula Suprema Foglio d'Oro "M" nib running Van Dieman's Royal Starfish

Five (that is 5!) sticks of an unidentifiable Chinese ink sticks from an Oriental Collection (private museum) and shop here. They were offered for 'free lunch' price, about $7 for the five together. They are large format, handmade pine spot , write beautiful matte black or grey with both steel pen and brush.

Probably enough black for the rest of my life, and even the rest of my children's and grandchildren's life 🙂

I just found an NOS bottle of Waterman’s Patrician Purple. I don’t have a ton of purple, and the label is beautiful.

Top 5 of 19 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Pilot Silvern Dragon IB, Iroshizuku Kiri-Same

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

I'll admit that while I've looked at the Inkvent calendars, they're pretty expensive.  And I'd much rather wait and see that the reviews are for the various inks, and then see which ones Diamine puts out as part of their regular lineup.

I do kinda like the special bottles with the feet for when the Inkvent colors then get released as regular inks.
