I just bought a bottle of Iroshizuku Yama-budo because it looks nice in the reviews I've seen and is different from other purple inks.

You'll love it. Not only is it a great and unique color but it seems to be lubricated or someting as it makes my pens glide across the paper!

Out of interest what nib do you use for yours EF F M or... ?

I've just bought an TWSBI eco in both EF and F and not sure which to use for this ink?

That's the "murky green trick" for me is to find just the couple that really catch me.  There are many that look similar in swatches, thus the splurge.

So far Noodler's El Lawrence and Kobe 45 are my favorites.

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I don't change pens for different inks and never even though about it until now. I use broad nibs and 1.1 stubs most of the time.

Thanks to @lantanagal letting me know about a Levenger sale, I ordered Levenger’s new ink Sugar Plum. The coupon code shown on their website worked on the ink. (I was very bad, and ordered two pens as well.)

It’s possible, when looking at their schedule of dates to order to get it by Christmas. It showed for standard shipping to order by the 20th. We will see.  I think it would look good in the Northern Lights pen also in the order. 🎅🏽🎄

I am embarking on a Lamy T53 acquisition, so I just bought amazonite, agate, and peridot. I have all the T52s that are out right now that I know of. Love Lamy inks. Relatively inexpensive and real quality when laid down on paper.

That's my sickness: I decide I like an ink, or more likely, its bottle (Pilot Iroshizuku) or packaging imagery (Teranishi Fujiyama Irodori), and then I have to get all of them.

Once again I checked out Birmingham Pens ink selection (which changes continually), and ordered four inks I don’t need but they were too intriguing not to try.  I ordered Abandoned Shipyard, a green ink with purple shading, Abacus, a medium golden brown with green sheen, Iron Ore, a black cherry /oxblood color, and Black Pearl, a dense black with grey-green sheen (like real black pearls have).  I’ve attached links below for anyone interested.

I recently returned home from a two week trip to Japan. Nine out of ten of the following inks were, I suppose, impulse purchases. What else to you call walking into a pen/stationery store in Japan, face a wall of inks and try to decide? This is a less-than-perfect capture with a scan but gives an idea about the range. The only ink I knew about and hoped to get was the Ginza Golden Sepia, an Itoya exclusive. Beyond that, I looked at each place for something that was not only interesting to the eye, but would have a connection to either the store or the area/city I was in. Yet, without a grand plan, I ended up getting a nice spectrum of choices, with an emphasis on yellow/browns which I usually seek. All told, I purchased inks at 6 of the 10 stores I went to. I think, it's all a blur now... 😊

P.S. Here's a shot of the 10 pens, plus two more on the far right to round out the 12 Pens of Christmas!

I got two inks for Christmas that are new to me. Both are Atlas Stationers exclusive inks. I received Wearingeul Atlas and Colorverse Wolf Point. Wolf Point is where the Chicago River splits. The Atlas ink has the mythological Atlas as well as the store name.

@JonSzanto congratulations on the ink haul. I hope you had a wonderful time in Japan. I think of Japan as the stationery capital.

Even though I was aware of that, it is still rather stunning to stroll around some of those stores, with such a wide array of writing instruments, inks, and things to write on. A panorama of styles, from ultra-cute to sublime and elegant. I would go broke if I lived there, just from this aspect.

Thank you. That green was a bit of a surprise, as the swatch on display was just a nice deep green. However, I put it in the Aurora Optima, which has a wide italic and is fairly wet. It also have a perfectly usable reverse italic side to the nib, and what is wild is that regular writing puts more ink, leading to a dark, almost black, line that turns to metallic red sheen, and the reverse is drier and leaves a deep, medium green line. It can really appear that you are using 2 different inks in one line if you flip it for special effects. It was also packaged quite interestingly. No end of creativity in the stationery world in Japan.

Every time I look for MB grey it’s sold out.

It may well be my best grey ink......have some 8 or so now. A touch better shading than than PE Moonstone or Diamine Silver Fox. Lamy Agate, a light gray, shades very well, but is so dry, it needs One Drop, not more, of glyserine...still very dry, but shades well.

It was too bad I wasn't into MB's Oyster/Cool Gray ink back when it was €15....instead of the 23 I was gouged for...but sadly, it is worth it.
