I'm curious what you'll discover with the scented inks, Ruth. I've only tried two to date, I believe, and both smelt awful. 😅 Apparently some inks can smell nice, to some people.

Oh, both the rose scented ones smelled WONDERFUL.  And were different colors (one was more red, the other was more pink).

The de Atramentis bottle was the first one I actually finished of ANY of my inks.  And got a backup bottle when I realized it was getting low.

But of course, the scent is somewhat fugitive.  So if you're, say, writing a love letter to someone, you may experience the scent but the recipient might not....

I'm curious about how the De Atramentis ink actually smells, and whether you think that it really smells like the flowers.

There's a couple or rose-scented inks I really like: De Atramentis Red Roses, and J Herbin Rose (they really smell like I expect heirloom roses to smell like).  Other scented inks?  Ehhhh.  J Herbin Lavender was a little too intense a scent (lavender is one of those flowers I can only take in small amounts, although I have cooked and baked with lavender).  Don't remember now what I thought of De Atramentis Lavender.

And De Atramentis Patchouli?  That was just sort of nasty smelling (really a disappointment -- years ago there was a booth set up in the main concourse of a mall near where I lived, that made up custom fragrances (with I think almond oil as the base) and the one I made up for myself had rose, lavender, a couple of other scents, and just a drop of patchouli to give it a little spiciness.  I think that business no longer exists, but was able to get something close to what I'd originally concocted for myself at a booth at some SCA events that was along the same lines as the commercial business.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to actually WEAR it for many years (don't know what shape that bottle's contents are in at this point -- the oil could have gone rancid at this point -- because my husband tends to have bad reactions to a lot of fragrances just in general...).

You know... the forget-me-not does smell like what I expect it to in the nib and bottle specifically. Once it gets on the page, I all but lose the scent entirely... I've also had mixed bags with other scented inks, some smelling wonderful and others like a chemical cocktail. I imagine it's the ink components interacting a bit negatively with the fragrance oils.

I never went for the scented inks...having a particular shade of ink shade was enough of a problem.

I'm sure I tried one scented ink, yet what I had was minuscule in smell, and not worth a second sniff.

J Herbin Blue Night Scented Ink

I got this a long time ago.

I Just opened it, still smells great.

Couldn't use it, feathered on the paper I was using at the time.

Just received my bottle of Ice Rink from the Birmingham Pen Company, the company that @Inkstainedruth often writes about. Haven't opened it yet, but, on their website, it looks like a good blue.

I don't buy inks anymore with enough on the shelves for at least one other generation. On a lark, though, I bought three master inks from Pilot, one each in black, red, and blue-black. Wish they sold blue in a master ink.

Wow, that's a strong adjective! I'm impressed you found some good ones. One of mine was coffee, and I've forgotten what the other was supposed to be (and where it now resides).

I tried to google this, to no avail. What's a Pilot "master ink"? Another name for the cheap standard inks? The ones they don't sell in bottled form in the West, to appear more premium?

Well, I wouldn't bring a pen inked up with a scented ink to my allergist's office....

The real issue, of course, with scented inks is that the scent is fugitive (sort of like the way that the glitter in shimmer inks don't stay on the page when the ink dries...).

I was wondering about that, I think it's the 350mL bottles. I too would like Pilot blue to be sold in 350mL.
