My latest little acquisition arrived, courtesy of Stilo&Stile in Italy. 🙂It arrived the next working day, which is impressive.

Edit: The Pilot Blue Black is far far far from a 1st timer so I didn't mention it in my last post. I lacked a bottle in this house- my other little bottle and huge bottle reside back in England.

I like that description.

Plus you get to match your new inks to their eponymous pens. Parallel collecting! I love doing this with my Pelikans and the Edelstein ink of the years.

My Pelikan Golden Lapis has shipped from Cult Pens! They were, sadly, out of the Lamy Dark Lilac I ordered, so I asked them just to ship the rest of the order and cancel the bottle of Lamy ink. Instead, I ordered it from Goulet. That Dark Lilac seems to be flying off the shelves as Vanness was also out. To justify the $6.95 shipping (a weak justification, I admit) I ordered the four new Endless Alchemy inks: Candy Sea, Drops of Mars, Mystic Forest, and Wizards Pencil. This Was 99% for the cool bottles.

This will bring me up to 270 bottles of ink. I'm way past any practical reason for this many inks so let's just call it collecting and try to avoid the word hoarding, shall we? I think the difference is a collection is well organized, inventoried, and displayed versus hoarding which is just precariously piled up, I think. Guess it's time to finish building my ink shelves and start putting everything into alphabetical order by brand and ink name.

Dear @DilettanteG,

Please do not try to "categorize", or "name" your actions.

Just be happy & enjoy!

I just ordered a bottle from Cult Pens as it seems pretty tough to find here in the US still. I impulse added a bottle of Lamy Dark Lilac, and Wearingful’s Dracula and Frankenstein to justify the $15 shipping fee. Definitely not a practical purchase, but a deal compared to a bottle of Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst I just received from eBay.

Fingers crossed that Pelikan releases a Golden Lapis matching pen soon!

I went with buying it from PenWorld in Belgium. I had them send it slow mail and gift wrapped so it arrives closer to my birthday. I will check my local for Lamy inks. Since that’s part of the regular line now, it can wait until the hype dies down a bit.

Happy almost birthday! I didn't realize the new Dark Violet was a permanent standard, rather than a special edition. FOMO strikes again!

@Claes 😀 Hey, I thought it was we Americans who weren't supposed to get irony or sarcasm... Well, us and the Germans (according to some British Comedians anyway.)

I'm not sure I'd race to order the Dark Violet, honestly. When it first hits the paper it looks absolutely amazing, but it fades within seconds, and the green shimmer is an unpleasant addition, though only evident on certain papers (Tomoe River, for example). It's pretty nice, don't get me wrong, but not special, for me.

Thanks, it’s not for 5 weeks, but the shipping will take 3-4. The anticipation keeps me from getting too jaded.

@RJS Point taken, but sometimes you just want a new toy. I am really looking forward to those Endless Alchemy Bottles. I'm pretty easily amused.

@Penguincollector 3-4 WEEKS? Are they sending it thru a black hole? The pandemic may have trained me to be a little too excited about getting packages.

I may have read that incorrectly. It might not take that long, now that I took another look- but either way I deliberately had it wrapped so I can’t open it early. Only Deutsche Post knows.

I gave in and bought both Lamy Violet Blackberry and Dark Lilac. The friend who I was helping price pens had them in stock and offered me 20% off, so now I have a ton of purple ink.

(A 100ml bottle of) Ostrich × WeTone (aka Yun Tang) sheening ink named Florence after the Italian city:

and, because international shipping to Australia for orders on Taobao are never free, and the shipping charges loom large against the price of the ink (with a glass bottle and all), given I could tack on an 18ml bottle of ink from the same seller without costing more for shipping (largely calculated by gross weight, and without an artificial ceiling), got a 18ml bottle of this WeTone terracotta-coloured ultra-sheening ink (call 漸染, pretentiously presented with furigana on the product packaging and marketing images, and literally means “gradual dyeing” or “gradual change of colour”, although not in reference to an ink property, but only poetically alluding to the colour of leaves turning red and then golden yellow as autumn yields to winter):

I'm still on the fence about violet blackberry being anything other than purple ink. Dark lilac, on the other hand...

Just picked up 2 bottles of Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black. Wanted to try this ink and B/B is one of my go to colours for work.

I do have a weakness for purple ink. And teal as well, come to think of it. The 1990s were obviously formative years for me and that color them was everywhere, even the disposable cups at fast food joints.

@irrigger is blue-black the iron gall one? Hard to go wrong with the Pelikan inks. I've fallen in love with them all over again. Will my bottle of Golden Lapis ever get here?

@DilettanteG Yes, these are the iron gall ones. I ordered them from Cult Pens.  I've used Diamine Registrars ink before and liked it but wanted to try these as they are highly praised. Still figuring out which pen to ink up first.

Cool, a nice dilemma to have! I usually reach for the Edelstein Tanzanite instead as I find that line effortlessly trouble free.

Same, teal is my second favorite color after cobalt. Purple inks I just started getting really into. I used to use Rötring purple cartridges for school sometimes, but recently was given a ton of purple samples by @Lithium466 and really liked them. The Lamy inks I tried at the March pen club meeting in some very flexible nibs and they really impressed me.  I remember the “Jazz” cups, the luncheonette by my high school had them by the soda fountain.

The Violet Blackberry swatched onto Cosmo Air Snow is a really goth looking black purple satin. I’m swatching the Dark Lilac later today and will edit this post and add pictures.

On the Cosmo Air Snow, it’s all sheen. In my calendar, it outlines on the ink dot and on “LAMY.”

Montblanc Muhammad Ali green. I was actually searching for Emerald, and didn’t want to pay the high ebay prices, so I was hoping Ali green would be the same color (a la Montblancgate). I think it may turn out to be darker, but I love green, so I can live with It!
