A sample of Akkermann's Laan van Nieue=oost-indigo. A blue gray ink that shades.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

At the recent California Pen Show, I stopped by the Dromgoole's tables to see my favorite ink person, Jesi Coles. I asked her for a suggestion to add to my greys, and she showed me a number of swatches of the MB limited edition ink "Around the World in 80 Days (Brown)". As expected, a darkish grey with brown undertones (they also had one with blue), enough unlike my others to add to the cabinet. I also picked up a bottle of KWZ "Walking Over Vistula", which I had enjoyed in a sample a while back. As usual, the quick phone pic doesn't quite do them justice, but it's documentation, right? 😊

It's not that impulsive if one spends HOURS reading reviews before making a decision, I agree, but in this instance I had a problem to solve RIGHT NOW even if it conflicts with my goal to buy another pen when it's released next month AND stick to a strict budget.

So after all that (and sleeping on it) I have ordered a Moonman C1 which I hope will accept the lovely fude nib from my painful Q1 and seal well enough for Hero 234. The only thing I'm confident about is that it will hold lots of ink... the rest is -> 🤞

I looks like this was meant for another thread... (about impulsive pens?)

@AmandaW if the fude nib is a #6 size nib, it should work on the Moonman C1. I put a stub nib on mine.

Decided to add a couple of inks to a pen order to take advantage of the free shipping after minimum purchase amount was met. I have a bottle of Jacques Herbin Rouge d'Orient in the mail, even though it looks like a twin for some dark reds I already own. I just really like the sample and the fact it seems like a safe ink and is pH neutral.

I also ordered a bottle of Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua which seems like it will be unlike any of my current shimmer inks. Goulet's bedsit made it look really cool and unusual, but will probably just be another feed clogger, but the color looks so pretty!

Nope, that was supposed to read website. My autocorrect is run by a tiny demon that lives in my ipad who wants so very much to be helpful, but also seems to be very, very drunk.

To be fair, if I had to live in an iPad, I would also probably be very, very drunk most of the time.

The Birmingham Guppy and Gerbara were shipped (or I at least got the tracking) yesterday.

The Robert Oster Rose Gold Antiqua arrived and is gorgeous. So much for limiting my shimmer inks to the Jacques Herbin and Pelikan Edelstein. I've tried a few samples of Oster's sheening inks in the past and have really liked them. I might have to buy some more bottles, not like I need more inks.

Just got my Van Dieman's inks today!  It took about a month and a half.  I now am the proud owner of Heemkerck and Zeehaen, Shooting Star, Vampire Bat, and Royal Starfish!

Just inked my Sailor Profit with Shooting Star - it has a Broad nib, so hopefully the shimmer will show up well.

Using right now:

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Leonardo Officina Italiana Mosaico Anemone "F" nib running Diamine Autumn Oak

Pilot 845 "F" nib running Noodler's Cayenne, Pineider Tempi Moderni "EF" nib running Montblanc Racing Green

Finally caved and ordered a bottle of Jacques Herbin Soleil for my orange Optima, which I still haven't used as I've been afraid any matching ink would bee too light from the EF it came with.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

I’ve bought several bottles from the Jacques Herbin line. The Rouge d’Orient and the Bleu Austral are beautiful, flow very nicely ,are  easy to clean out, and just generally behave well in my Pelikans and Montblancs. I hope yours works out as well with your Optima. They just seem such a nice line of inks.

Two of the new Lamy inks - Violent BlackBerry and Pink Cliff. Monteverde Gratitude Magenta and Olivine. Plus a bunch of samples.

Thanks, Pen Chalet and interwebs, for helping me save...

I got to see swabs of the new Lamy inks yesterday at B/W.  Think I can pass on the Violet Blackberry (didn't really care for the sheen).  Still trying to make up my mind about Pink Cliffs.

The Blackberry seemed to sheen an orange leaning yellow, as I recall (although I think that I've read that it shades green).  There are also things that I've read that it's supposedly also being called Dark Lilac, but is not the same formula as Dark Lilac was).

The Pink Cliff is actually a really dark navy blue/blue-black.
