Pithy Prolix- The Sailor inks are from their Workshop series.  They have 100 of them available at any one time, but a few have cycled in and out over the years.  I (obviously) collect them, and still have 25 left to find.  I'm a cheapy, so am always on the lookout for inexpensive options.

I just bought Midori Navy ink along with some of the Midori notepads. Some are limited edition like the ink. I also got a Kaweco Sport Classic Red pen with a 1.1mm stub nib. It’s part of what I’ve done since the Kansas City teams were headed to their championship games. The Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl, so hence the red Kaweco. That’s what I’ve been doing since 2014. Buying the pen when they win to go to the championship, not waiting to see the results.

When I arrived home after a quick trip to Texas, what do I find in a package on my doorstep? Two inks from Birmingham Pen Co. - a bottle of Violet Sea Snail and another bottle, of Sugar Kelp!

I really like the Birmingham Pen Company inks - they have complex colors and those colors are just kind of "funky," but in a good way.

Using right now:

Jinhao 9019 "EF" nib running Birmingham Railroad Spike

Leonardo Officina Italiana Mosaico Anemone "F" nib running Diamine Autumn Oak

Pilot 845 "F" nib running Noodler's Cayenne, Pineider Tempi Moderni "EF" nib running Montblanc Racing Green

Oooh.  I just looked at Birmingham's website, and Violet Sea Snail looks really interesting (yeah, like I REALLY need another purple ink... :headsmack:).

You know what? You should check out the "Streetcar" ink. It surprised me.  It's a smooth flowing ink and just writing with it makes me happy.

It's happy ink!

Hmmm.  Swab on their website looks a little too orange-leaning for my taste.

Check out Pithyprolix's post yesterday.  He found a site with color samples.  This is by Kuretake.  I am very much enjoying them!

I’ve enjoyed so many of their inks over the years.  Their colors seem to fill many niches neglected by other larger ink manufacturers, and their new inks are always an interesting surprise.  I’ve tended to buy their blues, blue-greens, brown-greens, sepias.

It was not my impulse buy, but my husband’s for me: a bottle of Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku was waiting on the table for me when we returned from the airport.

Peripherally related: I just purchased a large rocker blotter from a friend. Looks nice, leather-covered with gold imprint touches, and a big 7" x 3" area.

Midori Navy Blue and Dark Red based on some recommendations on FPN plus Robert Oster Fire and Ice to see what all the fuss is about.

I will second the comments above about Birmingham Inks.  Two of my favorites are Damselfly and the unfortunately discontinued Frick Stained Glass.

large rocker blotter

Very nice.

I have 7 bought over a time, five belong to inkwell sets. Two are wooden. Only two are thickly loaded. Some have paper older than me.

The fault of a rocker roller or any other blotting paper is it ruins any two toned shading, and makes the line wider.

Vintage Omas Extra Blue (to add to my vintage Omas Extra Sepia & Grey, both great inks, in 75ml bottles, if I remember correctly).

I could have bought vintage Montblanc Bordeaux along with it - and I was severely tempted to - but I already have some others that seem similar, including Parker Penman Ruby, which seems like it might be similar, I think, (perhaps a bit darker?) and I already enjoy. Also Cartier Bordeaux, which I haven't used much because Penman Ruby has my attention.

Just grabbed (supposedly the last) bottle of Edelstein Mandarin from Amazon. Because I needs the ink to match the pen, even if the pen isn't here yet...

I bought a bottle of Herbin Vert de Gris at the art supply store next to the post office. It was my reward for filling out forms and queuing at said post office. Almost bought a big bottle of Perle Noir but left it for next time.
