A Swan 3202 Eye Dropper With Stub Nib

Hi,

 

I've been looking for a second Swan eye dropper and so this one made it's way from England.

It is a 3202 MED with stub nib made ca. 1915 to 1920 with an original leather pouch.

I think it was good luck to find such a nice pen...

Some photos, the Swan as it came, not much to do for restauration, needs some reallignment of the tines.

These nibs are such a joy to write. :-)

The tines have a little gap at the tipping, so it writes too wet at the moment.

The imprint and chasing are very good for a pen of that age. Nice nibs too. Well spotted, Jens. Finding one with the original pouch is a bonus!

yes, the pouch is very welcome. I love those.

Let's see how the nib will write after alignment.

At the moment it looks ok, but line variation should improve a bit.

Flex is as I like it for such a stub, it looks a bit flex reduced by the down turn next to the tipping (third photo). Is that typical for these nibs?

Anyway this is a pen where as little as possible should be done...

I don't think that down turn is usual, Jens. The pen may have been dropped. If so, it's very minor damage and I would live with it, I think. I'm sure that nib will write very well once the alignment has been done.

in the meantime it writes drier with more line variation after fixing this:

 

 

The nib was bent upwards, turning it a bit into a leaf spring instead of flexing... ;-)

Yes it writes fantastic now!

I left the down turn as you suggested. My second stub (in a finer 3003) is turned down here, too - but not that much.
