It's funny how, it doesn't look that pale on the screen shot. It looks like a very nice colour.... The type that I like in reviews but when try a sample or even worse a bottle, I wonder why on earth did I ever get it

I'm a big fan of this ink. It's good do know that it does okay with an EF nib, even though being on the dry side. Of course I might go the completely opposite route and see how it does in the stupid TWSBI 580-ALR with its firehose of a 1.1 mm stub.... (Even with R&K Salix I ended up writing with the nib upside down...).

It might seem darker because my efforts to "correct" the color also colored the white page I was writing on. But really, it's just paler than in larger nibs. In larger nibs, it's more like my smiley face that needs to brush his teeth.

Another great review, efnir, thanks! I have a sample vial of this ink, and the changes in color as it dried really intrigued me. Though I probably had it in a wettish broadish nib.

Thanks for reviewing this ink. Personally, I really like the Classic *** Black inks for use at work in my EDC pens (mainly Kaweco Liliput & Sport or Safari) - I consider them waterproof, especially for text that is completely dry. I also like that they have a number of choices in this series, so I can rotate inks. But now that I think about it... I've never used them at home for personal writing. I guess I don't completely trust these permanent inks in my more expensive pens (I would be horrified if something happened to my Pelikan M101N Red Tortoise ;-)

 

The only one I haven't used yet is the Citrus Black - not much use for a yellow ink at work.The other ones are all great workplace inks.

Yes, in my EF nib, it does change a little as it dries, so I'm not surprised if the effect is greater from a larger nib - it's been a long time since I used it in a larger nib, so I can't remember.

My only other ink in this line is Forest Black, which is a nice shade as well, though I've never tried it in an EF. I would think gold-nib pens would do better for iron gall inks, but I haven't had these in any pen for an extended period of time, so I can't really comment on that aspect.
