I was looking at Levenger’s website. They sell B nib units. They have two versions in silver tone and black. They cost $24

Good to know, Misfit.  Keep checking the Levenger blog site, as customer service emailed me that they are "working on" getting the TW history section back, but on the blog.

Oh, that is good news. Especially since this is officially the holiday season, it’s good they would do that now.

I’m still trying to get the ink out of the cap of the transparent Amethyst pen I bought.  The eBay seller disclosed this, indicating the ink might be trapped between the cap and cap liner. At first, I thought the ink was all inside the cap liner. I’m not sure now. Since I’ve been at it for awhile, I’m wondering if that means it is between the cap and cap liner.

If you have an ultrasonic cleaner, which uses water with sonic vibration, you might be able to loosen the ink stuck between the cap and cap liner.  Maybe use warm (not hot) water, and try the ultrasonic method a few times.  Sometimes, though, the ink is so hard that nothing works.  Good luck.

@MisfitThe wonderful Pelikan's Perch website has instructions for cleaning the cap and removing ink trapped by the cap liner.  CLICK HERE

I’ve been using an ultrasonic cleaner. I did find warm water did better than cool or cold water. It’s hard to tell if the inside of the cap liner has ink. It’s looking better, so that would mean ink did get between the cap and cap liner. It has an O-ring, so it’s not an easy thing to remove the cap liner.

Thank you for the link. It seemed to be about the section, not the cap.

I'm eyeing a Pinkly pen, but it has a medium nib and I would prefer fine or extra fine. What kind of nib unit do I need to be looking for? I don't think we have the Edison brand here, but maybe there are others... does anyone know what might work? 💗

ETA. l have found #5 Schmidt FH241 nib units available and a thread on FPN that suggests they fit some True Writer pens "smaller version". Is the Pinkly a smaller one?

Will work for pens...

Pinkly is the same as any other True Writer. At least any of the True Writers I have bought are all the same length, with same nib size. It has a #5 nib.  I do own a Pinkly. I like saying Pinkly. With the way the housing is on the True Writer, it might would be worth it to swap the nib and feed from one housing to the other.

There was a True Writer Select, however I never purchased one.

Can I add a "family photo" here? For years and years I had only one True Writer, a purple Metalist. I recently picked up a "white" (per @donnweinberg's meticulous catalog at the top of this thread) TW. New nib came in this morning, a fine black anodized jobbie to match the finials on the pen.

Sadly the nib was shipped in a plastic zip bag in a flimsy bubble envelope, and arrived damaged. Levenger is sending another, but would not promise that "the big warehouse" (I infer Amazon) will package the replacement any more securely than it did the first. We'll see.

Hi, SLinkster.  I recently purchased the purple Metalist FP also.  Good luck with the replacement nib issue.

The second nib arrived in good condition despite being packed as poorly as the first. I guess in future when I want a Levenger nib unit I'll have to find something larger to order with it, in hopes they'll ship in a box.

In other news I just won a juggernaut auction for a yellow TW with a broad nib. So now I'll have two to send out for custom grinds.

I hope some day to find a TW Blue Bahama fountain pen. It would be nice to have it along with Pinkly and Amethyst.

I’d also like a Kyoto True Writer. And if they are out there the Always Greener and Fireball demonstrators too.

Here's an updated family photo. I currently have an Online (JoWo, supposedly) #5 EF nib unit in the yellow pen, on a trial basis. It's not an exact fit in terms of diameter, being slightly smaller. However, the threads match and the nib unit screws securely into the grip. I now have a good black anodized F nib unit but haven't put it in a pen yet. The white pen and the Metalist are both ready to go off to a nibmeister for custom grinds on OEM Levenger broad nibs.

I noticed when I was setting up this photo that the Metalist is slightly longer than the resin pens, which in turn are not identical to each other. It seems reasonable to assume different craftsment and probably different production dates account for the differences between the resin pens.

Still no luck finding my missing Levenger (Stipula) Verona Amethyst. None of the kids will admit to having appropriated it and I have no idea when I last saw it except a vague "maybe I had it [at my last professional desk job]". I can only account for the box now. So I'm watching eBay in hopes of scoring a replacement.
