Today I received a Parker 17 Lady, currently filled with Onoto Deep Magenta.

I have only had a couple of these but they both had brilliant nibs, broad with some give to them.

I gave an Insignia version away to someone on here, the pen had been initialled and this person had those same initials.

A Parker #35 Floral Pattern.

Thanks!  I hadn't seen anything like that and when I looked on Tony Fischier's website he doesn't show any 35s that look ANYTHING like yours.

Two Lady Duofolds, three band.  One is the classic red.  The other is a Mandarin with two tiny cap lip cracks.  Both were rather grungy looking but they cleaned up nicely.  The red one had an intact lucky curve feed while the Mandarin had a regular feed.  Innards on both pens were in excellent condition.  Both nibs are in excellent condition.  Now I have to decide on an ink for each one.

Also a Canadian duofold that I can't find on Tony Fischier's site.  I will post a photo tomorrow.

So I am not what I would call a 21 collector, but a few have fallen into my collection and the latest has me scratching my head.

Black, Blue, Grey, ??? ( If this was a 51 I would call it Navy Grey). Looking at the online resources available to me I see that the 21 came in green but it was a much deeper intense green like the 51 Forest Green...

Any ideas from the experts as to what color/flavor of 21 this is?

Left over Parker 41 colours' barrels and hoods were used in Parker 21 Super. The body parts of Parker 41 and Parker 21 Super are interchangable.

Here is the mystery Canadian Parker.  I can't find it on Tony Fischier's site nor any other online/print resources except (I hope) FPN.  Length capped is 125 mm and it is not ebonite.  Any help identifying this little beauty would be greatly appreciated.

I’m posting in follow-up of my earlier posts regarding the “pink ring” inside the Kullock Parker 51 Vac barrels (which also may be other colors).  According to FarmBoy, the filler end of the barrel needs the ring to serve as a “seat” for the diaphragm of the filler unit.  In cases when I have removed the ring using the aforementioned tapered triangular burnishing tool, the filler unit did not function, as the pump went slack.  This result supports FarmBoy’s statement.  I think the problem I described, in which the blind cap fails to screw in completely, is that often the inner-barrel ring is not screwed into the barrel far enough — again, just as FarmBoy says.

Here’s the rub:  Some of these Vac barrels are not sturdy enough for the use of the tool.  The dark grey one appeared to be and felt thicker than two more recently purchased 51 Vac barrels — one Plum (yes!) and one Navy Grey.  In each case, the ring was not screwed in far enough, and in each case the barrel bottom sustained a considerable crack.  In the case of the Plum barrel, I could screw-in the ring further, but in trying carefully to remove the tool, the crack occurred.  In the case of the Navy Grey barrel, the crack occurred in the course of trying to screw in a complete filler unit (i.e., one with the diaphragm).  Being completely objective, these cracks are my fault.

But the variable ring placement also is a substantial contributing factor.

For example, on the second of the Dark Grey (customized) 51 Vac barrels, which felt sturdier than typical, I was able to use the tool to screw the ring a bit further back and was successful in installing a complete filler unit and in screwing in the blind cap (a double-jewel type) all the way.

At this point I believe that before shipping such barrels, the seller should test with a complete filler unit to ensure that it creates suction and that the blind cap will screw on completely.  That way, the seller can make appropriate ring-position adjustments, ensure no cracking, and ship a useable set of parts.  The seller’s representatives are wonderful folks and a pleasure to deal with, and I’m confident that they will figure out how best to deal with this issue for future sales of these parts.

Two Parkers have joined my collection recently. My first UK Senior Duofold - quite nice, has an engraving but I don't mind; also a IM special edition. I really like the planets!! Jupiter has the storm and Saturn has rings...my ocd is appeased as the arrow on the barrel even lines up with the nib!!! just fun!!

A Parker "DQ" (Duofold Quality), c1924 was recently added to my collection. I am loving how it feels in my hand and the writing too!

Sadly, I don't have any other decent parker fountain in my collection, a few Mabie Todds though :)

Not the most collected of pens but here is a Late Black Slimfold GT.

This model dates from the mid-1970s. It replaced the New Slimfold.

Yeah, the New Slimfold is very similar to the Parker 45, but shorter and with a screw-type cap.  They're nice.

Very nice.

Just give me the Parker 51s and nobody needs to get hurt.
