What Parkers Have Joined Your Collection Lately?

Yesterday I received this Parker Centennial True Blue LE, so I thought I would show it with the vintage Duofold True Blue ( probably a Streamline Short at 127 mm) that I have had for a while. Unfortunately the material (Permanite?) in the barrel is discolored but the pattern is still visible. I like these Centennials, especially the 2nd generation ones with two narrow cap bands and the LEs with three.

Congratulations Paul! The True Blue Centennial is one of my holiest of grails. The original version is also gorgeous. I have a ring top version and I love to look at it. Your barrel isn’t as discolored as many that I have seen. The Streamline short is a good size.

I've seen some vintage True Blues at various pen shows, and were always sort of drooling over them, but they were never in my budget.... :(

budget

What a horrible word. !@#$%^$# Budget.

I got old used (cheaper) German pens, being in Germany....but there were ever so many Pretty Parkers; had I been living in the States.

I saw so many pretty Sonnets, and others like the above.

This is an interesting pen. Was it made before the version with the covered nib or at the same time?

A year ago, a neighbor woman charged me €20, for two p-45's, a P50 (the one with no section - nib as part of body, & a P-15; which took longer to find.

I must admit to never knowing anything about the P-15...but on the com I had seen pictures of the P-50.

So suddenly I went from 5-6 Parkers ( including a modern nail flighters I didn't care about)  to having 10, now twelve. Newly, a Sonnet Firedance, the 1927 Jr. Doufold. I also picked up a P-75 Thuya from a widow woman where I use to work.

The BP is also a Thuya, but the picture as always didn't quite come off.

The P-75 set I've had from @ 1970/1. I was in a BX drooling over a black and gold Snorkel when I got mugged by the P-75 brothers.

I do still have the Parker mechanical pencil cartridge for that, and other ball point pens, that looks like the normal jotter cartridge.

One of these days I should count my Parkers. It appears a collection grew up around me, without me chasing.

This is also one of my “grail” pens but WAY OUT of my budget. Last one I saw in the original box was nearly $1500. 😳

Now that's a nice collection. I'm surprised to see a ring-top pen that is so long. And the 2nd-from-right is certainly pristine looking.

Thanks, Christof. The pen is of the earlier design (c. 1962-64). This configuration is certainly not seen as often as the later version, probably because there were many years more during which the Parker 17 with the hooded nib was produced.

The five five pens are (L to R):

#1 - The 2009 LE Duofold Centennial - Medium gold nib.

The four vintage pens are not marked as Duofolds, but I am guessing sizes based on the Duofold models.  Also, all four have different nib markings with the nibs on three smallest not having the gold content marked.

#2 -  “Special”

Ring top cap

The barrel is marked “GEO.S.PARKER LUCKY CURVE FOUNTAIN PEN” over “TORONTO-   -CANADA”.

No date code.

The single tone nib has an engraved arrow over “14k” over “PARKER” over “CANADA”

#3 -  “Short Special”

Ring top cap

The barrel is marked “GEO.S.PARKER PEN MADE IN U.S.A. ”.

No date code.

This barrel has the “Bullet” style blind cap.

The single tone plain nib has “PARKETTE” over “MADE IN” over “USA”

#4 -  “Short Special”

Clip cap

The barrel is marked “GEO.S.PARKER PEN MADE IN U.S.A. 1” over “PATENTED”

No dots, so 4th quarter 1931 date code.

The single tone plain nib has “PARKER” over “LUCKY CURVE” over “PEN” over “2” over “MADE IN USA”

#5 -  “Short Special”,

Clip cap

The barrel is marked “GEO.S.PARKER PEN MADE IN U.S.A.” over “PATENTED”

No date code.

The single tone plain nib has “PARKER” over “PEN over “MADE IN” over “USA”

Added the note on the “bullet” blind cap.

Today I received a Parker 17 Lady, currently filled with Onoto Deep Magenta.
