Yes it is.

Here is the best picture I can manage showing the difference between the burgundy (in the middle), the maroon (top) and rage red. It is a dark burgundy colour but no t quite the same as the burgundy of earlier P51 Aerometrics.

Thank you! That's very helpful.

Of course, now that I have agreed with you somebody will pop up on FPN with a sterling silver bark Parker 105 set!

…and then refuse to sell it to either of us, despite our willingness to get into a bidding war for it! 😉

Yes - just our luck!

On the other hand, if the pen was yours, wouldn't you want to keep hold of it?

Well, I would be willing to ‘let it go’ if I’d acquired a nicer example of the model.
Which, given how ubiquitous 105s in Sterling Silver are…

…oh, hang on a minute… 😉

Parker Victory MkII. Very happy as it completes the set and I picked it up for only £20 inc. P&P. Not an easy pen to find as I believe it was short lived before being succeeded by the MkIII

Congratulations. As you say, the MkII is by no means the easiest of pens to find - especially at that price!

I have just bought another MkI but I will need both a MkII and a MkIII in due course.

Very nice little pen.  Of course it would appeal to me, although trying to get a little longer pens lately I seem to rarely write with the shorter ones, but sometimes the

best nibs are on the smaller pens... :)

Thank you, @GlenV. People sleep on small pens, which is nice for people like me who seek them out. I have seen a few older larger pens with smaller, bouncy nibs coming out of Japan recently. Unfortunately, I don’t remember what the brands are, but it might be worth looking into.

Top 5 of 20 currently inked pens:

MontBlanc 144 IB, Herbin Orange Indien/ Wearingeul Frost

Sailor x Daimaru Central Rockhopper Penguin PGS mini, Sailor Wonder Blue

Parker 88 Place Vendôme IB, Diamine Golden Sands

Salz Peter Pan 18k gold filled filligree fine flex, Waterman Serenity Blue

Yiren Giraffe IEF, Pilot Yama-Guri/sky blue holographic mica

always looking for penguin fountain pens and stationery

…we all know that thou hast merely invented such pens, as a ‘distraction’ - so that thou thyself mayst ‘hoover-up’ all the ‘standard’ - sized Japanese pens with nice nibs…

😉

With my apologies for the poor-taste joke,

Parker Victory MkI.

A lovely pen. It clearly has had a lot of use (witness the replacement nib) but was well looked after.

No shame in a nib swap. I have a humble 1935 Parker that had a nib swap by Parker  UK in the mid 50s, they put in an oblique medium with similar markings to your own and it is the most wonderful pen in use, regardless of price, it was actually $20.

One of those few pens that I will need to give away to someone whom I know will love it, I really don't want to see it lost in the eBay swamp.

Hi Christof. The pen in the photo is my P51 MK lll in grey. Made in the USA. I think the colour is very similar to the Navy Grey MK II. Unfortunately I don't have an English pen to compare it to. I hope this helps.
Best regards.

The full (incomplete) document covered by a Newhaven internal memo from 1995 is in the PCA archive (Item 728-a-parker-history). Unfortunately the timeline stops in 1980 so we cannot see if silver was ever proposed or utilised as a finish for the Parker 105 during its lifetime.  That said, the Janesville archives pen catalog of 1994 only has the gold and stainless models so you may well be right:

Perhaps I should stop looking for the sterling silver version - there is a very good chance that it is a unicorn.

Of course, now that I have agreed with you somebody will pop up on FPN with a sterling silver bark Parker 105 set!

It is unusual that the Janesville archives pen catalog of 1994 only shows the 105 in fountain pen and ball pen configurations, as the rollerball exists in both finishes.

Also, I have seen pictures of prototype 105s in acid-etched stainless, in various patterns.
Plus a finish that looks like brown epoxy(TX), and either solid silver or silver plate with gold plate clip, both in the bark pattern.

Thank you so much for sharing this.

So there were silver variants, albeit if only prototypes by the sound of it. The acid-etched prototypes would have been more or less contemporaneous with the 45 Harlequins so I suppose that that is not altogether surprising. I would imagine that they were rather good-looking.

As for the rollerball, well I suppose it made a lot of sense. After all, the 105 was a Newhaven product, the Systemark was already available, and in England the  RB-1 was either in the offing or in production when the 105 rollerball was designed.

I recently got a Pearl and Black in the Demi size, which I loved, and which renewed my interest in acquiring other Parkers, specifically the check versions and cardinal red. I was able to find the Citrine, Olive RB, and Amber check. Very happy with these!

Parker 45, F nib, and a Parker 51 Vac, ?? nib (guessing F or possibly EF).  Plus a couple of spare press bar converters (in addition to the one already installed in the 45).

The 45 is Dark Blue/Midnight; not sure about the 51 Vac because it's been so gloomy the past couple of days I haven't had a chance to put it side by side with one of the Burgundy 51s to see if it's also Burgundy, or actually might be Cordovan Brown.  But at five bucks US for both pens AND the two extra converters?  I think I can manage if it's NOT Cordovan Brown.... B)

Interestingly enough, the 51 Vac appears to have a "T7" date code on it -- I have a couple of 51 Vacs that are marked "T6" but hadn't seen any other year ones with the T markings before now.  Of course that pen also just got added to the pile of pens going to OPS (yikes -- that's just under 5 weeks from now!) to get looked over/repaired....

I swear if it wasn’t 630 miles from me, I’d be coming to OPS. I have been jonesing for another pen show since Raleigh because I didn’t do Washington one either.

I haven't been to DCSS since they moved from the old site -- it's too awkward timing for me (it's generally scheduled up against the camping event for the other hobby...).

I've been to the Triangle Show a couple of times, but not for a few years (the second time I dragged my husband along and he tolerated one day of it... ).
