Here's a photo of the threesome. The new, polished aluminum pen is the one in the middle. It could use a little more polishing to be as shiny as it wants to be. p.s. perspective is not my friend here, all three pens are the same size.

Thank you. I wonder if there was ever a production all-silver P51 model (like one of the silver caps, only with a matching silver barrel)? I thought I saw one once but I goggled at the price and passed it by and didn't pay much more attention than that. Now I might be interested again, but I don't know for sure if what I'm looking for was ever made. I have seen a few adapted by Kullock, but that's not really what I want.

Yes there was. English only. @christof has posted pics. It’s absolutely gorgeous.

Well... Some time ago I have asked the people linked to Parker in the past about existence of official factory-made silver or silver-plated P51 (something like Insignia) but no one was certain about that and no one fo them confirmed that such a pen ever existed.

However, I believe that some customised ones have been made.

I just picked up another plum 51 that was advertised as black…..getting ready to clean it up.

Well done :)

It seems I should adopt the same approach in my search of Plum P51, too :)

Thank you, now I remember the listing said R. Silver (for rolled silver, I presume) so I think that's the model I remember. What a beautiful pen. Now officially on my list of "I have to get me one of those."

Thank you TheRedBeard, I am on it. Almost a week to wait for the auction to finish. That gives me a little time to decide how much I am willing to spend. I must admit I am grateful the dollar/pound relationship has moved so far in our favor recently.

Yes, it is exactly good time for US buyers to buy something here ;)

It’s in the mail, when I have it in hand all cleaned up I’ll post some- none of the listing pictures show the pen off very well.

Take a look at my new to me Parkers! The 180  says “ Made in Aust” Is it Australian? I think they had an assembly facility over there at one time.

Yes, I too have an Australian made Parker 45 flighter CT. There are many Australian made Parker products in the second hand market in my area.

The Parker 180 FP has a lot of ink flow problems and should be managed with more frequent maintenance.

It took me a long time to learn (and for me to understand that I had to do so) to be able to write without scratching with the narrower X/M nib.

I find the pen very useful for correcting my writing pressure.

It makes sense that the assembly line in Australia would supply the countries that are closer than the facilities in North America or Europe. I haven’t had any ink flow issues (it’s only been 2 days), but the X side is a bit scratchy. I’ll try it again and note the amount of pressure used, although I have a light hand from decades of FP use and calligraphy training. The FP market, both new and second hand over in that corner of the world is so amazing- I hope you find more awesome pens!

Latest for me is a number of beaten up old pens.
Australian made ballpoint and 3 parker 45 pens. All with medium nibs, no gold nibs though :( .

I love the 45  steel nibs, tbh.

@Number99, I’ve been writing with the 180, and have figured out that the X side is much smoother if I hold the pen more vertically, and yes, as light a hand as humanly possible- it really does teach a big lesson!

The bidding price for that Parker has already reached £350+...

I will not be surprised if we see the closing price hitting £450  tonight ;)

Well, purchased but will have to wait at least a month for delivery (not entirely sure why :() but I FINALLY managed to snag a Vector Looney Toons "Tasmanian Devil" pen. Not the earlier 1999 design (like the one I bought for a friend several years ago) but I think it actually looks better than the original.  And even better, got it for the minimum bid, and from an eBay seller I've always had good interactions with.

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."
