What Parkers Have Joined Your Collection Lately?

Today the Duofold Centennial in Jasper Red arrived, pictured below with its smaller sibling International (also a fairly recent addition). I really like this color (not enough to buy a RB, BP or pencil, if any came in this finish, but enough to buy a Demi if I ever found one). The Centennial has a lovely, crisp EF nib.

My bad…I have always heard rumors of a burgundy 51 Vac but never seen one. That’s what I thought you were talking about.."silly me,but I’d like a burgundy Pearl one also - simply not willing to pay the price for one.

An early burgundy pearl would make my day, but like you I also feel the prices on those are ridiculous, they sure are pretty tho!

Ha! That burgundy pearl vacumatic major for which I bid $200 earlier this week just ended: $204.72

Oh, well. Turned out for the best, I think. The one I have coming is a longer one that I will likely prefer, even if it cost a bit more than this one. Plus, the one I bought is listed as restored, and this one is not.

I didn't know that there was a demi in this series of the Duofold😉 Parker pens.

I don't know that there is, I haven't bothered to look it up yet. If I did find one, though, I would probably buy it.

OK, now I've looked it up, and there probably wasn't. The Demi was introduced in 2008, and Red Jasper was discontinued in 2004. Parker's penchant for being economical with materials and re-using old materials in new models probably wouldn't bridge a gap of 4 years.

I have a Senior UK Duofold on the way from Andy's Pens.

I am really looking forward to it. I have been a fan of the look ever since I briefly owned a Lady 17 a few years ago. (Didn't care for the broad nib on that one - it was one of the wettest pens I've ever owned. But I liked the looks of it, tiny as it was.)

Measurements make it seem about the size of a 51. We shall see.

Today at the Chicago Pen Show, I picked up a blue Slimfold with what might be a flex nib.  If I have time tomorrow I'll have the nib guy here at the show take a look at the nib.  And maybe some guy set up in the atrium who seemed to have something to do with writing with flexible nibs (not Michael Sull, who is also in the atrium -- this other guy is near the ink testing table).

And not a pen, but a book: Donald Jackson's The Story of Writing.  The book was apparently commissioned and published by Parker.  The book looks quite interesting, stretching from stuff like the Lascaux cave paintings to "the machine age".

Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Ruth that Slimfold is a nice looking pen. Nice to have a face to go with your name. i only bought one advertising Jotter, too  busy  selling selling.

I can't wait for the next show witch is Detroit for me as a vendor. I know I will not do as well as CPS as all my good stuff sold sold sold. I will just have to stock up again when another local auction happens that has Parkers.

Back to work on Monday.

Picked up a nice pair of Parkers at the Chicago show this weekend. The dark gray pen is a Zaner Bloser and the Jade is a bit... unusual. It has a pre-Vacumatic Dahlberg style filler. I'm happy both of them joined my collection.

I kinda like desk pens and I have a few, I seen this on the evil place it was advertised as a 51 but it showed the vac barrel stamp, it looked like the nib had a tip problem which it does, but the base is really really cool!  so imagine my surprise when I took the taper off it has a lock down filler and the date code is 27, so I grab my flashlight to see if can see through it and BANG its a black reticular. I was super excited that I was the only bidder at 39.99

Now THAT is beautiful!

Do you mean colour, or entire pen?..

I have got a mint Centennial Black GT (2016) and  am considering to trade it for something vintage in a near future :)

All the best is only beginning now...

The color primarily. I have sold or traded all of my modern Duofolds, which I now regret!

I see... About two years ago had great chances to buy modern Centennials in Pearl&Black, Green Checks and Red Marble (all mint ones) at quite reasonable prices but missed those chances....

Now I see not many such ones available...
