Yeah, the Major is a good size for me.  My first one was an Azure Blue Pearl Sub-Debutante, but I was a sucker for the color (and because it was a small pen, was less expensive).  The second was a Silver Pearl Major.

For a long time I thought that the Azure Blue ONLY was available in the 3rd Gen models (with the plastic plunger) but when I found out that they did come in the 2nd Speedline models as well I was going "WAAAANT!  MUST HAAAAAAVE!" and then lucked into one at the Ohio Pen Show a few months later. :D

ETA: Sorry that was responding to NumberSix -- I had to go out and talk to the friend that has been helping us do yard work before my husband drove him home, and then got sidetracked because they had to pull back up the driveway to get the milk he'd asked me to pick up for him when I'd been out shopping earlier.  And then had to get the last load of laundry for the day started....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

What should one expect to pay for a burgundy Vacumatic in very good condition?

I gather that's the rare color, amongst the basic colors?

I dunno -- I don't have one of the Burgundy Pearls, because I thought the Red Shadow Wave is prettier.

I’ve never seen a true burgundy Vac. Guess it’s kind of like a unicorn, but Cordovan Brown works just fine in the Vac for me.

Make sure that it’s not an aftermarket “fantasy” Vac though.

At the auction on 9/26/21 they were selling at $500 - $600 [ CRAZY PEOPLE ]

Okay, good to know. One was going for $64 on ebay with 4 days to go. On a whim, I bid $200 around the time I posted my original question here.

I was outbid about an hour later.

I'll be curious to see where this one ends because the pen looks gorgeous and great shape.

There's a burgundy vac 51? Wow, did not know! Not sure how well I could tell it apart from cordovan.

I was referring to the burgundy pearl Vacumatic, though.

My bad…I have always heard rumors of a burgundy 51 Vac but never seen one. That’s what I thought you were talking about.."silly me,but I’d like a burgundy Pearl one also - simply not willing to pay the price for one.

I found a burgundy pearl on ebay just now, a Long Major. When it arrives, I will tell you guys about it. I want to make sure it's as nice as it appears to be before I admit to what I paid for it. hehe

Burgundy Vacs perceived value will vary greatly with model.

Burgundy as in the Aerometric color vac-51s do exist.

Here is my burgundy pearl No Vac Vac [ No Imprint on barrel ] 11 CM  or 4 3/8 inches.

I have had this pen for  a few years and when i picked it up at an auction in Parkerland it had no cap. The cap was a parts cap that was missing two bands. Thanks to FarmBoy

it has all three bands on the cap. The cap was from a pen that had some good parts found on evilbay some years back and within 2 weeks I picked up another pen with more bad parts.

With the two pens I made one good pen. One of these days I am going to make a 1st Gen FrankenVac with different colored damaged parts that will write great.

Now that's a pen with some character and a story! Looks good, too.

At the Little Rock pen show I picked up a Lacquer Parker 75 and a gold cap Parker 65 both in excellent condition.

Wow! A Parker 65 consort was my very first f/pen. I’m 68 now and when I was a kid, I saved up my odd-job money and eventually got the pen I saw in the store window. I still have it. Still in its original box, outer sleeve and unopened packet of Parker Quink cartridges. My lifelong fascination with fountain pens was all due to that '65. A true classic!

The Burgundy Vac Max has been the most elusive for a good price. Absolute beautiful pen.

Bought the new Parker 51 burgundy and 51 Deluxe Plum from Vanness Pens earlier this year.

Picked up an aerometric teal 51 with a sterling silver Ariel Kullock tooled cap at the Dallas Pen show this last weekend.1711259670_2021Parkers.thumb.jpg.7e489df27ddcf653e93e8e5fed6d9542.jpg
