I seem to be on a bit of a Parker binge lately. Last week I received a couple of Vacumatic filler pens from eBay purchases, one a Vacumatic model, the other a striped Duofold. Both required a new diaphragm, which is fine because I got them "as is" for pretty good prices. The pens are dated 1939 and 1940, both have aluminum speedfillers, and all the parts were in good shape. The Vacumatic has striped jewels, which I haven't seen in person before. I haven't done any diaphragm replacements for a while, it was fun to get my hands in it again.

On Monday I got a modern Duofold Demi in Check Olive pattern (there are photos over on the Impulse Buy thread, because that's what it was). It's quite small (117 mm) but posted it is the perfect size for me, and writes really well. I'm happy even though I didn't realize it was a Demi I was buying.

I also have an International coming from France in the black mosaic pattern and an interesting-sounding nib grind. Then I think I'm done with modern Duofolds, I have one in each size, unless I see a Check Citrine begging for a new home. Anyway, my Parker drawer is now full, I'll have to get rid of something if I buy any more.

News flash: I saw what appears to be a genuine full size Plum 51 on eBay this evening, starting bidding at $125. It appears to have a couple of problems that may be cosmetic, so it may not go through the roof. Public service announcement (because I don't want to bid on it).

Nice finds.  I only have one Vac with striped jewels -- a 1st Gen (lockdown filler) in Emerald Pearl (I think the size is a Slender).

And thanks for the heads up on the Plummer.  Although someone else will have to bid -- I'm feeling a little poor at the moment.  While I'd like to get a full-sized Plummer someday, for the moment I'm going to be content with my '49 Demi.

Hola Martín,

Care to post a picture of it? I'm very much into 45's

Thanks!

My most recent Parker acquisition is a 45 Desk Pen. And it's fantastic! Gold nib. Medium line. Super convenient on my desk.

I have owned probably 15 Parker 45s - maybe more. Most of them, much as I don't want to admit it, have been disappointments. This one is by far the most perfect writing 45 I have yet to use.

I have it currently inked up with Edelstein Sapphire. I previously had Quink Blue-Black in it, an ink I really like, but this Edelstein is a better match.

One recent addition, and one return to the fold:

P21, black - this one is terrific - I even ran "51" India Black and Superchrome Blue-Black in it briefly. But from the day I got it, it had a scratchiness to one side that I could not ignore any longer. I tried with my feeble skills to micromesh it, but nothing worked. Finally, I sent it off to Kirk Speer for adjustment. Now it's writing a lovely smooth wet medium, rocking some 4001 Dark Green.

P51 Special, dove gray - the pic looks green, but it's that blue gray color. I picked this one up about a month ago as an inexpensive user-grade pen. It may have a gold nib. It's a very nice writer.

I like my vintage pens to have a little light wear - it reminds me that I am not the first owner across 50+ years.

Goes with my Father Christmas pencil mug? 🤣

It's a lovely piece, and I recommend them if you come across one. I was never a desk pen person, but this one convinced me. I might look for a Sheaffer one, too.

I think I will swap out the ink for something permanent for signing things - Heart of Darkness, maybe, or Platinum Carbon Black.

I just received a vintage True Blue and a Frankenpen that I’m trying to determine if it’s a 41 or 21….even though it looks like a 51 Special.

That’s a beauty! I’ve been wanting to try one of these but they aren’t cheap to find at all!

Thank you, Mike :)

It was a lucky chance for me to find it here in the UK...

Hi @Carguy,

The Parker Falcon is a crazy pen, pricewise. I've seen them from $50 all the way to $200 on ebay (and they're not even the Titanium model).

I have one that I believe to be an M and it's a good writer. Not dry at all, but not overly wet either, so it works nicely on crappy paper.

The section, however, is thin and a bit slippery in my hands. To give you an idea of how thin it is, I'm comfortable with a Parker 180 and find the Falcon thin.

I just got an Argentine version of the MK III 61 in a beautiful dark green. I don’t see this the the colors list on Tony’s site. I know that Argentina production had some different flavors to it, but this pen is NOS and mighty pretty. I am awfully tempted to ink it, but I won’t…..for now

Isn't the Mk III basically a P45? 🤨

This one isn’t….it may be a MK II, but even the plastic feels sturdier than I’m used to in a 61 - almost feels like Lucite. This is my first and only Argentina model, so not sure on that. I always thought that Argentina was a bit behind the curve is updating pens which in this case may be a good thing.
