Hi, Folks,

Thought I would start a thread on these gorgeous recent pens. Let's see yours!

This is a Platinum #3776 Cherry Blossom celluloid fountain pen. This 5 1/2 inch long pen uses a Platinum converter or cartridges. The sakura (cherry) pink pattern translucent celluloid cap, barrel and nib section has an organic patchwork wrap featuring small squares or cells. Platinum creates the body components from sheet celluloid which is then dried in house. The gold nib is stamped #3776 over the Platinum logo over 14K. The clip and trim are gold plated. The cap band reads Platinum Japan #3776. This model has been available since at least 2017 and retailed for $450. Made with fine, medium and broad nibs and a matching ballpoint pen. Current retail price is $480.

I have three...Tortoiseshell, Koi, and Calico. I think they're great looking pens. I'm hoping to add the Jade color next...

Hi, Folks,

Great photos! You have some that I haven't seen in person yet!

This is a Platinum #3776 Tortoise celluloid fountain pen. This 5 1/2 inch long pen uses a Platinum converter or cartridges. The bekko (tortoise) pattern translucent celluloid cap, barrel and nib section reminds of the hues of browns, oranges, and whites in the shell of the hawksbill sea turtle, which was hunted for food and its shell almost to extinction. Celluloid has replaced the use of tortoiseshell. Platinum creates the body components from sheet celluloid which is then dried in house. The gold nib is stamped #3776 over the Platinum logo over 14K. The clip and trim are gold plated. The cap band reads Platinum Japan #3776. This model has been available since at least 2010 and retailed for $450 in 2017. Made with fine, medium and broad nibs and a matching ballpoint pen. Current retail price is $480.

Yeah, that pink is fabulous. For me it's not the color (I agree with "And I don't like pink.":-) but the patterns/texture in the celluloid. How do they do that?

Thanks, I love looking at photos of the celluloid pens. Does anyone have a photo of the LE Lapis Blue FP? I searched for it for a few days.

There is some serious eye candy here!

Really lovely pens. I vote for the tortoise.

Just curious, is the one piece barrel lined with a (male) threaded brass sleeve?

This is a 3776 Lapis Blue, but I'm not aware that it is a Limited Edition and it may not be the Lapis you meant.

Hi, Folks,

This is a Platinum #3776 Midnight Ocean or currently named Ocean Blue celluloid fountain pen. This 5 1/2 inch long pen uses a Platinum converter or cartridges. The celluloid cap, barrel and nib section subtle shades of deep blue with flecks of white, reminiscent of the deep ocean surrounding Japan. The rhodium plated gold nib is stamped #3776 over the Platinum logo over 14K over 585. The clip and trim are rhodium plated. The cap band reads Platinum Japan #3776. This model has been available since at least 2017 and retailed for $450. Made with fine, medium and broad nibs and a matching ballpoint pen. Current retail price is $480.

Some pens from the collection.

From left to right.

  • Customized makie, late 1990s-early 2000s. i've seen a few of these in different designs. Seem to be the same artist.
  • 17th Tokyo Pen Trading - Wagner club - SF nib that is very soft. Look closely for the sparkles in the plastic.
  • Eight sided blue celluloid. Supposedly made to order. M nib that is incredibly smooth.

More tomorrow.
