Hope you enjoy. Comments appreciated!

(Decided to try Mondays out. I'll still post my usual weekly video tomorrow as well, and it will be the first chosen by viewers: Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs.)

Nice review, thanks! Diamine Eau de Nil won me over when a friend of mine let me try it in a pen with a Sailor Music nib about half a year (?) back. So yeah, it hit all the right notes for me and became one of my go to inks from there on. I've had it in permanent rotation with Pelikan 4001 Blue Black, Pelikan 4001 Turquoise, Sailor Souboku and Diamine Alexandrite.

Thank you Liz. I very much appreciate your EFNIR reviews. I tend to write with finer nibs and rarely use anything that lays down a thicker line than the very occasional B nib (in pens owned by my partner). Although I like the look of a nice juicy line from a fat, stubby nib, in reality very broad and stub nibs just don’t suit my handwriting style.

As most other reviews rarely focus on an ink’s performance from a finer nib I’m finding your reviews incredibly useful. I look forward to watching and reading more.

:) Thanks! Eau de Nil isn't quite blue enough for me, but it's still a great-performing ink, and it's awfully hard to beat Diamine's prices.

Sailor Souboku is review #12 - today I post #9, Bleu des Profondeurs, so it'll be a few weeks before Souboku posts. (That's the only other one of your permanent rotation I even own.)

That's music to my ears. :) Another posting later today. I find I can do roughly 6 per month, or so. Just depends how quickly I can get a feel for the ink and whether it seems like it'll need longer in the pen to reveal any issues or positive traits. I've decided I don't want to spend 2+ years going through all my samples!

I get such a kick out of your reviews!

And E de N is an ink I have. You may have forced me to take out my Pilot Penmanship. ;)

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Thank you!

Your Pilot Penmanship is feeling lonely. But (SEMI-SPOILER ALERT) don't ink it until after I post my review of Herbin Bleu des Profondeurs in a few hours. ;)

Liz these are fabulous. I remember when you were asking for suggestions on ink reviews for EF users, this is not anything like what I expected, but it's so much better! I love the format, your twists on "the quick brown fox" are fun, love the writing prompts! And as much as I enjoy watching the video, thank you for including the pictures with the review as well!

They're not like I was expecting back then, either. But life got hard for a year and I started to think more realistically about what I was capable of and what was most important to me so I could narrow my scope to something I could manage. These fill that "Japanese EF" gap that's missing from so many reviews (and I'm not finding fault with anyone - I think anyone who does any review is a hero!). I'm glad it's helping my fellow EF users. :)

Meanwhile, I'm running low on "quick brown fox" twists - somewhere around review 20-something I'll probably have to come up with something new - there are only so many ways to combine foxes, wizards, sphinxes, and such. And I may have to spend more time reading just to come up with more quotes to inspire those prompts! That or I'll have to start using quotes that might offend some folks... :yikes:

Another great review!

Thank you!

It's in my Penmanship now.

And do you feel like you're on the Nile? ;)

These EFnirs are such a great format. Kudos! I really enjoy watching these short videos.

And Diamine Eau de Nil is a very attractive looking ink - but I’m heavily biased, because I just love my teals ;-)

Thank you! I didn't really expect the format itself to be that popular, but you're at least the second person to make that comment. :) I'd love to be able to do more like your reviews, but that would overwhelm me, so I'm sticking to my niche! And I am enjoying getting this done and look forward to the day I've done the 123rd ink so I can then reward myself with more ink samples. :P

All three of these teals are quite nice, with slight differences to accommodate everyone's preference.

  • 1 year later...

Here's the line width measurement. The line is one of those used for dry time.  Magnification is 100x.  The grid is 100x100µm.  The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each.  The line width for this ink is roughly 255µm.
