In my opinion, it is not made by Platinum, the Japanese pen manufacturer. Platinum pens would have Platinum written somewhere on the barrel or cap or there would be a P Platinum logo. My guess is the pen is Chinese. Open it up and see what type of filling system, converter, or cartridge it uses.

that certainly do not look like any Platinum I know of and the trim ring next to the nib suggest it likely many of the vintage 90's Chinese gift market pens

It has a press bar Aeromatic style filler.

Sounds Chinese. Platinum converters are screw types. They had press bar converters for year or two when they got into small pens but by the 1980s they were history.

I agree that it looks Chinese, however, there is an Indian nib maker called Platinum.

Maybe it's a frankenpen of sorts. It may be a Chinese pen with a Platinum nib on it.

It is definitely NOT a Japanese Platinum Pen Company nib.
