Platinum 1930S Silver Pen

I have been focused on selling pens lately, to try to reduce my collection to a 'reasonable' number, but I couldn't resist the chance to grab this one. It is apparently pretty uncommon!

Congrats on your new pen. They are neat. As I recall there are several very minor variations in clips and tassies and all have the same hand-carved design on the caps and barrels. Inspecting several together you can see the minor differences in craftsmanship using the same template. A number of other makers made similar pens during the same time frame.

Your pen was made in 1952. FPOJ has several errors in dating and brand and product information. The pen is correctly attributed in Nakazono's FPOJ where it is pictured with other similar non-silver models.

Sunami/Lambrou notes they are rare. Not as much as implied. They are obtainable. Prices have appreciated over the years and one can see the increased interest of foreign buyers on Yahoo Japan.

As Stan mentioned this pen is certainly obtainable - although it wasn't cheap . I've just received the same pattern Platinum FP today - bought from YAHOO Japan.

On this one the clip is different from the above specimen - it has the globe with the S N letters, the lever is gold plated and the nib is also different. On FPOJ pens with the same clip style are pictured right next to the hand engraved silver with the arrow clip. I guess it is also from the 1950's.

I'm very pleased to have it. After some struggling (I won 🙂 ) the section came out and a new sac has been installed.
