Inky T O D - The Unthinkable Has Happened, Amber Had To Choose 1 Ink

The ink is named RED which I will again point out is just silly.

Hmm. If that's literally the only name, then I'm just gonna make me a list...

  • Aurora Red (but this name isn't silly)
  • Cross Red (again, not silly)
  • De Atramentis Artist Ink Red (pretty sure it's not silly)
  • De Atramentis Document Ink Red (still not silly)
  • Krishna Lyrebird Red (looks red in the photo)

Hmm. Can it have a number? I forget, did we rule out KWZI?

  • KWZI Iron Gall Red #1
  • KWZI Iron Gall Red #3
  • KWZI Standard Red #1 (not silly)
  • Lamy Red (looks awfully orangey, but probably not enough to be silly)
  • Montegrappa Red (unsilly)
  • Noodler's Red (pretty sure we ruled out Noodler's)
  • Platinum Dyestuff Red (antisilly)
  • Sheaffer Red (insilly)
  • TWSBI Red (nonsilly)
  • Visconti Red (can't-think-of-another-anti-prefix silly)

Well, I have exhausted Vanness...

  • Taccia Aka Red (which I include only because we could respell it A.K.A. Red, and that would be amusing)
  • Leonardo Officina Italiana Red (no looka da silly)
  • Pilot Namiki Red (not silly)
  • Sailor Jentle Red (don't look silly)

Well, I has exhausted my best resources and come up empty. I'd like to change my plea to "clueless". ;)

Unrelated, De Atramentis have a red ink named "Business Ink for Successful Ladies". I can't figure out whether that's hilarious or not. They also have a red ink named "Witch" - I wonder if they're the same color but with different names. :lticaptd:

Amber, did you say it was hard to find?

Please see my previous post. I declare this ink "hard to find". I'm thinking I could just drive to Vegas and knock on her door faster than this!

It is a waterproof ink that writes in purple but is named Red. No other modifier going from Amber’s post on the previous page.

Since LizEF took the ink name Clueless, I’ll take Befuddled.

Is it a Pilot Red? It does come in huge 350ml bottles...

Id personally have a hard time deciding. A tealy blue black and a brown of some sort. Dont think Id be happy with just one but would be okay with two inks from these categories. Say, KWZ IG Turquoise or Lamy Petrol and KWZ Brown Pink or GvFC Hazelnut Brown. For permanence on important documents, I have conceded with using a couple of Zebra Sarasa gel rollerball type pens.

Amber:

Is the name Red, and nothing else?

So not De Atramentis Black Edition Red Black.

The word is RED, but it is a type of ink.

I am now going to have to find those two inks.

It is no longer for sale at Vannass. They have been sold out for a while.

:)

I did find it for sale on Yafa's website.

The vintage version of Sheaffer Red?

No, but really need to buy a bottle. What a great ink.

No, I like Pilot red, but the bottle is not that big.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It is not a KWZI ink, or a De Atramentis ink, though the wine inks are among my favorites.

None of the inks mentioned are the one I picked, but you are all getting really close.

It is not a Diamine Ink or an Akkerman Ink or an MB ink.

No KWZI, De Acramantis, Diamine, Akkerman or Mont Blanc. Hm....

And it is a limited edition ink? Or a Special Edition ink :P ?

No, it was not limited, it just didn't sell well. I bought it on sale. I bought it from Pen Chalet in February 2019, but it is still made and still for sale at Yafa.

Stipula Iron Gall Red?

Monteverde Love Red ?

YES, Stipula IG Red.

I would never have expected I would chose Stipula, most of the Stipula inks did not hold up well in my fade tests and they weren't water resistant.

This ink is perfectly wet, lovely to use, mixes great and is beautiful. These were the mixes.

Platinum Mix-Free Red?

Kidding.

The suspense was building, and I had to blurt out my guess, anyway. Haha.

I'm responding to what I see in the thread in a notepad as I go. Don't know how I missed this for three days.

When I saw the writing sample, I thought, "Noodler's Red-Black?"

But I now doubt that. It's a brand you're not a fan of, so that's out. Large bottle, easy to grab, noted for permanence.

Akkerman Bekakt Haags? -- ah, I see somebody else already guessed.

I am not even sure what all of Yafa's brands even are. I know I'm lost.

We now have our answer, of Stipula IG Red. I'm surprised to learn it's fuss-free and mixes well. But I already have all of my Essentials chosen, so I don't go hunting for new inks.

Well, this is what I get for, um, I dunno, being in bed between 3 and 4 in the morning! :yikes:

Stipula Iron Gall Ink 70 cc Red was the only contender I found, but too late. :)

That didn't show up looking purple on the page. That showed up looking like Mercurachrome (for those old enough to remember it). I had a bottle of it (it was the first "red" ink I ever got) and gave it away because it was so hideous -- and the person I gave it to gave it to somebody else.... Dunno if Karl still has it or gave it away. I live in dread fear that it will somehow work its way back to me at some point.

The only plus was that it came free when I ordered a pen from Todd Nussbaum (can't remember the name of his business now, and it's gone defunct) and it came free -- he'd gotten an overstock of the Mix-Free inks. I almost ordered the purple but got Flame Red because I didn't have any red inks. And after it came I still didn't.... B)

NOOOOOO!!!!!!

That was going to be one of my very first guesses! But Stipula IG Red is still available. I got fouled up thinking it was a unobtainium or limited ink color. And your writing sample doesn't really look mine. Mine looks redder than your initial writing samples. UGH!

Stipula inks are one of my very favorites. If I had been your shoes and could have grabbed two inks, I would have grabbed my Montblanc Unicef and Stipula Florentine Red.
