this thread is a lot of joy. thanks to everyone.

So what ink do you think you would grab on your way out of the door?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

So what ink do you think you would grab on your way out of the door?

mentioned before - some royal blue like pelikan 4001 or montblanc, and/or sailor jentle doyou.

they are not waterproof, but that's not important in my use.

only as long as we talk ink bottles ...

because most probably, i'll go full cartridge: my pen pouch contains two pens, one (M nib) loaded with royal blue, the other (B nib) with edelstein topaz, and one spare cartridge each.

cheers,

sebastian

Ah, yes, very nice choices. I found a recipe that I had for MB Royal Blue and MB Lavender Purple - what a great combo for a terrific performing ink. DoYou is also wonderful for removing stains!

Here is what I've been writing.

fpn_1585087084__img_20200324_142403_2.jp

We can succeed only by concert. It is not "can any of us imagine better?" but, "can we all do better?" The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise -- with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.

Personally I’d pick Sailor kiwa-guro. Not that I’m big on black, but this ink is really special in several different ways.

In what ways does it speak to you?

I've been writing today with Montblanc Antoine de Saint Exupery Encre du Desert and began thinking that this looked a lot like your sample. Could it be something so "elite"?

Or could you have been writing with Papier Plume Red beans n rice?

is it diamine syrah? (not sure if that has been guessed or not)

or maybe merlot?

both come in large-ish bottles... both are "reds" that look purple-y...

I’ll guess Noodler’s Polar Blue. I know you have, or have had some. Big bottle, permanent, good mixer.

what would I choose? This is horrifying. A blue-black. I might have to close my eyes and pick.

Are we guessing what that ink is?

My guess is KWZ Red#2

Yes, we are!

KWZ Iron Gall Red#3 is a superb guess - though you said number 2 (I didn't know that was an ink). I only see #1 and Iron Gall number 3

Anyway, I will say that KWZ Iron gall red 3 looks very, very close, if not identical, to the pictures shared... it is a "red" ink that doesn't look red at all and the color is extremely similar

Didn’t Amber mention the ink was at least water resistant?

It is an ink with Red in the name, but looks Purple, and is not eye searing.

I don’t know if it meets the requirements, but here goes another guess:

De Atramentis Kermisen Red.

(I didn’t go back and read all the it isn’t posts).

None of the inks mentioned are the one I picked, but you are all getting really close.

It is not a Diamine Ink or an Akkerman Ink or an MB ink.

Now you have really got me curious.

I have been meaning to try one of the DeAtramentis Document inks. I noticed that Dr. J had a Red Gray that looks intriguing but I can't find a good writing sample. Could it be, given your connections???? Or could it be Dark Red????

Others have already suggested KWZ IG Red #3.

It is not a KWZI ink, or a De Atramentis ink, though the wine inks are among my favorites.

Thank you all for playing this game with me. Perhaps a writing sample in better lighting would help?
